Breakfast passed in an uneasy silence, the air thick with unspoken tension that seemed to cling to every corner of the room. The atmosphere remained strained despite the plan to foster a sense of connection between you and Dark before the impending wedding. Dark, for his part, appeared unnervingly composed, as if this situation were nothing out of the ordinary, despite having met just the night before.

As you finished your meal, you hastily gathered up the plates, hoping to escape the palpable discomfort. The sound of running water filled the room as you busied yourself at the sink, scrubbing away the remnants of breakfast in an effort to distract yourself from the awkwardness between you and Dark. He remained seated at the table, arms crossed and head tilted slightly as he gazed out of the window, bathed in the warm glow of the morning sunlight.

You mumbled a hasty excuse about needing to get ready for the day, not waiting for a response before retreating to the sanctuary of your room. Alone behind closed doors, you couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the unfamiliarity of your situation. Having a divine being as your makeshift partner was a daunting prospect.

You stood before the mirror, scrutinising your reflection with a furrowed brow. Today's outfit choice leaned towards casual, something you could easily slip in and out of as you embarked on the day's agenda of shopping for clothes with Dark.

Taking a deep breath, you clutched the fabric of your chosen attire. A pressure began to build at the back of your mind, a nagging fear of the unknown. What if Dark was not what he was presenting himself as? What if the slightest misstep led to disastrous consequences? You shook your head, trying to dispel the spiralling thoughts that threatened to consume you.

With a frustrated groan, you pushed aside the lingering doubts and focused on the task at hand. After all, this was just for a night out at a luxury wedding and a chance to don a pretty dress. You were just a girl, after all, seeking a moment of respite from the complexities of life.

As you stepped into the living room, you couldn't help but notice Dark casually leaning against the wall beside the front door, waiting for you. With a flick of his hand, he moved a tuft of hair that had obscured his vision, allowing him to take a good look at you. Dark gave a subtle smirk before gesturing towards the door. "Shall we?"

As you both left your home, walking side by side, Dark followed your lead. His demeanour remained relaxed, hands casually tucked into his pockets. You couldn't help but grasp at the leather strap of your bag, feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement coursing through you. Glancing at Dark's side profile, you noticed the subtle bump at the bridge of his nose, which only served to complement the sharpness of his jawline and the softness of his stubble. The wind gently tousled his hair, giving him an effortlessly charming aura.

"Would you rather take a picture?" Dark's monotonous voice broke the silence, though his gaze remained fixed on the street ahead. How had he noticed your staring? Was it truly that blatant?

"Sorry," you muttered, feeling the heat rise to your cheeks in embarrassment. Curiosity was already getting the best of you, and you couldn't help but wonder about the incomprehensible life he led. "Since we're...bonding, I just wanted to know if I could ask questions. Of you, that is," you explained, trying to justify your snooping, not noticing that your palms were becoming sweaty. You certainly didn't want to overstep with a god, as they weren't known for being particularly forgiving about such matters.

He hummed, the deep rumble of his voice reaching your ears like a melody, but you quickly pushed aside any distracting thoughts. "I don't see why not," he responded, finally giving you a glance with those piercing eyes.

"Why agree to this?"

Dark raised an eyebrow at you. "You're questioning why I listened to your prayer?"
