Once upon a time in Ruthenia, a girl in her 20's (Maria) was born in the 1400's. She was a pleasant and bright girl, but also very brave and courageous.
She was walking around town one day, when one villager called out "Tatars!" and everyone began running and screaming, including Maria. A Tatar man caught her and dragged her away from the town, which she would never return.
Maria was brought to Istanbul, where she was sold to the Topkapi palace and made as a servant, as she was deemed too ugly to be a concubine. She was personally selected to be the babysitter of Sultan Süleyman and his siblings by his mother, Hafsa Sultan who later became valide. Maria was given the name "Afife".
Upon turning around 40 Afife was sent away from the palace as she was no longer needed. She resided in her own residence peacefully in Amasya until she was called back to Topkapi.
Afife died saving Hurrem :)
