Essence's pov:

"Finally." I huffed sitting down the last box of my belongings. Who knew moving would be this tiring?

Well I did have to walk up and down a flight of stairs. Why did I pick to sleep in this dusty old basement again?

I attempted to flick on the only source of light in the room and it didn't work. "Oh great." I mumbled to myself in aggravation.

I ran upstairs to grab another lightbulb."Ew why do you look like that?" My sister said stopping me in my tracks. "Like what?" I asked in confusion.

"Like shit." She laughed walking away. I grabbed her hair pulling her back and we started to scuffle. "Hey, keep your hands off your sister!" My dad hollered in the distance.

I loosen my grip from her hair. "She started it!" I argued. He waved his hand at me. "I don't want to hear it." He said dismissing me. My sister laughed seeing our father take her side like always.

And that's why I picked the basement.

After organizing and making my room look decent I collapsed on my bed, face first into my pillow. I started to drift to sleep when I felt a cold breeze enter my room.

I looked up quickly from the sound of something hitting the floor.

The picture frame on my nightstand fell down. I assumed it was from the wind so I placed my face back into my cushioned pillow not thinking much of it.
