Crimson Hills Avenue, 9:45 PM

As Haerin made her way home from the convenience store, her encounter with Jay still fresh in her mind, she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the air. The streets were quiet, the winter night casting an eerie stillness over the city. Lost in her thoughts, she rounded a corner and was met with a sudden burst of noise-a cacophony of shouts and crashes echoing from a nearby alleyway.

Curiosity piqued, Haerin quickened her pace, her footsteps echoing in the empty street as she approached the source of the commotion. As she reached the mouth of the alley, her eyes widened in surprise at the scene unfolding before her-a group of people gathered outside a dimly lit bar, their voices raised in anger as fists flew and chaos reigned.

Instinctively, Haerin hesitated, her mind racing as she assessed the situation. The sound of violence and turmoil washed over her, mingling with the bitter cold of the night air. But as the chaos raged on, Haerin knew that she couldn't simply stand by and do nothing. With a determined set to her jaw, she made a split-second decision and turned on her heel, her footsteps quickening as she headed back the way she came.

The urge to intervene tugged at Haerin, her instincts as an agent compelling her to step forward and restore order. But as she scanned the crowd, her heart skipped a beat when she spotted a familiar figure amidst the chaos-a figure that sent a jolt of adrenaline coursing through her veins.

It was Danielle, her form unmistakable even in the dim light, locked in a fierce struggle with another patron of the bar. Haerin's breath caught in her throat as she watched, torn between the desire to intervene and the need to keep her distance.

Despite their rivalry and the animosity that simmered between them, Haerin couldn't ignore the pang of concern that flickered in her chest at the sight of Danielle in danger. Without another thought, she steeled herself and pushed her way through the crowd, her training guiding her through the melee.

As she reached Danielle's side, Haerin's heart pounded in her chest, her senses heightened as she assessed the situation. With quick reflexes, she grabbed hold of Danielle's arm, pulling her away from the fray and into the relative safety of the alley.

"Marsh, we need to get out of here," Haerin urged, her voice urgent as she glanced back at the chaos unfolding behind them. "You're going to get yourself killed."

But Danielle only chuckled, a smirk playing on her lips as she wiped the blood from the cut next to her eye. "Oh, Haerin," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm and disdain. "How noble of you to come to my rescue. But I think you should go. This isn't a place for a fuck-up like you."

Haerin's jaw clenched with anger at Danielle's taunting words, her frustration boiling over as she resisted the urge to lash out. "Enough," she snapped, her voice sharp with irritation. "I'm not leaving you here to fend for yourself."

Danielle only laughed, her eyes flashing with amusement as she leaned in closer to Haerin, her tone laced with a flirtatious edge.

"Oh, is the almighty Kang Haerin worried about me?" she teased. "How sweet. But trust me, I can take care of myself."

With a surge of frustration coursing through her veins, Haerin tightened her grip on Danielle's arm. "By getting yourself beat up? We're leaving, whether you like it or not." She declared, her tone leaving no room for argument.

As Haerin was about to hook Danielle's arm around her shoulder to support her, a drunken patron lunged at her from the side. Reacting swiftly, Haerin released Danielle, causing her to stumble and fall to the ground with a wince of pain. Without hesitation, Haerin turned to face the attacker, her jaw set in determination as she prepared to defend herself. With a swift and calculated movement, she dodged the man's clumsy blow and delivered a powerful punch to his gut, causing him to double over in pain.
