As the lights continued to flicker ominously, casting eerie shadows along the corridor, Haerin exchanged a glance with Danielle. They both knew they were in no condition to take on their assailant, not with Haerin's injured hand and Danielle's lingering exhaustion from their earlier ordeal.

"We need to get out of here," Haerin whispered urgently, her voice barely audible over the sound of their pounding hearts.

Danielle nodded in agreement, her eyes darting around the dimly lit corridor as they searched for an escape route. With Maxim closing in on them, they had to act fast.

Without another word, they turned and bolted down the corridor, their footsteps echoing against the metal floor as they fled from their pursuer. They didn't know where they were going or what awaited them at the end of the corridor, but one thing was certain: they couldn't afford to stay and find out.

As they sprinted down the corridor, their hearts racing with adrenaline-fueled urgency, the air suddenly erupted with the deafening sound of gunfire. Bullets whizzed past them, striking the metal walls with sharp clangs and sending sparks flying.

Haerin and Danielle ducked and weaved, their breaths coming in ragged gasps as they dodged the hail of bullets. The pounding of footsteps behind them only added to their sense of desperation, urging them to push forward despite the danger.

Ahead of them, a metal bridge spanned a dark chasm, its surface vibrating with each heavy footfall. With no other options available, they made a split-second decision and dashed across the bridge, their hearts pounding in their chests as they raced toward the unknown.

As they reached the end of the corridor, Haerin and Danielle skidded to a halt, their path blocked by a solid metal wall. Panic surged within them as they realized they had reached a dead end.

Danielle's grip on Haerin's hand tightened, her fingers trembling with fear. "We have to find another way out," she said urgently, her voice barely above a whisper.

Haerin nodded, her expression grim with determination. "We'll figure something out," she replied, her voice steady despite the rising sense of unease.

With nowhere else to turn, they pressed themselves against the wall, their senses on high alert as they strained to listen for any sign of their pursuer's approach.

As they listened intently, Danielle and Haerin moved cautiously, their footsteps light and deliberate to avoid detection. Each sound seemed magnified in the oppressive silence, their senses on high alert.

But their efforts to remain stealthy were shattered by the sudden eruption of gunshots, the deafening sound echoing through the corridor. The flickering lights provided a brief glimpse of their assailant, casting eerie shadows that danced across the walls.

Suddenly, without warning, a powerful blow struck Danielle in the stomach, knocking the wind out of her and sending her crashing against the wall. Pain flared through her body as she struggled to regain her breath, her vision swimming with dizziness.

Haerin's eyes widened in shock as she watched the girl fall, her heart pounding with fear and adrenaline. Without hesitation, she lunged forward, placing herself between Danielle and their attacker, ready to defend the girl at all costs.

As Danielle gasped for air, clutching her aching stomach, the figure emerged from the shadows, his features twisted into a menacing sneer. With a menacing glint in his eyes, he raised his fist once more, poised to strike again.

Before Haerin could react to defend Danielle, the flickering lights cast a disorienting glow, momentarily blinding her. In that split second of confusion, the assailant seized the opportunity and delivered a brutal punch straight to Haerin's face.
