THAT PERSON MUST BE YOU

W was being truthful. He's always truthful. Sure, showbiz has taught him to phrase things a certain way but at its core is honesty.

It's true for example that when he sees someone as a friend, it was almost impossible to see them as anything more.

He's has a neat and organized brain and that's just how it works - he meets you, he categorizes you. And it is a big step for him to reorganize his thoughts just for you. So if you are a friend. You are a friend. You will probably remain as such unless you betray or hurt him - in that case you're automatically relegated to trash.

Has anyone been successful in defeating his brain filing system? No.

And before you even ask it, W is perfectly aware who you're all hinting at.

Yes, even that person has not changed the patented Win Metawin Iamkajorn brain filing system.

So, see? He was being honest.

But what you all failed to ask is if That Person was ever placed in the friend box to begin with.

Because the answer to that particular question is no.

So which box did he belong?

That Person has been refiled in other boxes all throughout W's life.

The very first time they met, the seemingly stand offish man was immediately categorized as Annoying Nuissance.

It annoyed W how flippant he was.

As if being a handsome actor gave him a right to be so dismissive towards a beginner like W.

But time passed and they got to know each other better. W saw through the stoic facade, found a childlike countenance and playfulness. Found someone as ambitious and driven as he was, who lived life like time was running out.

And Annoying Nuisance began to gradually change - Funny Annoying Nuisance, Charming but Annoying Nuisance, Not such an Annoying Nuisance Afterall...

My Annoying Nuisance.

W didn't even notice that That Person has climbed the ranks into "My".

"My" was only for a chosen few in his life.

But then again he couldn't really deny that this man was now one of his chosen few.

From then on, it became easier to label the boxes That Person would come to occupy.

W felt comfortable allowing him to slide around his very spacious "My" boxes. Comfortable letting him add on adjectives and nouns to his category.

My Annoying Nuisance Who Won't Stop Texting
My Annoying Nuisance With Impeccable Taste In Music
My Annoying Nuisance and Confidante
My Annoying Nuisance and Support System

Soon it was only My that was left unaltered.

My Constant
My Bro
My As Always
My BFF

That's the closest That Person has been to the friend boxes - BFF.

And even then those two categories were light years away from each other.

The million dollar question that no one will dare ask : Is that all he is to you?

Not that : My Constant My Bro
My As Always My BFF were anything to scoff at.

But W was smart and he knew sometimes even if you had a lot, you wanted more.

Did he want him to be more?

To drop the pretenses and the suffixes and turn MY into simply MINE?

The million dollar question.

And one W didn't want to answer.

The gamble was too big. What he could lose was too great.

W is always truthful.

But there are some truths he cannot yet confront. Cannot yet examine.

So he won't.

Not right now anyway.

What he needs right now is sleep.

It's been a punishing week and he needs for  his melatonin tablets to finally kick in and do their job.

He just needs to lean in to heaviness settling into his eyelids and his bones.

But then his phone vibrates loudly against his chest and the teddy bear necklace he has forgotten to take off.

He sighs and looks at the screen.

The name flashes and the phone vibrates again.

Such a goddamn nuisance W thinks as he grins from ear to ear.

"It's 3am Vachirawit, let a man sleep," he complains into the phone.

"But you haven't even seen my wound yet," comes the pouty response in a voice not many have the privilege to hear.

My Annoying Nuisance
My Constant
My Bro
My As Always
My BFF

That Person is a lot of things.
But he's never been a friend.
W doesn't fall for his friends.
