The sun dipped low in the sky, casting a warm glow over the sprawling campus of Monster High. Excitement bubbled within me as I hurried around mine, Clawdeen, Frankie, and Draculaura's shared dorm room, anticipation for the upcoming dance making my heart race. Tonight wasn't just any dance; it was my first ball, and I couldn't wait to attend with Deuce Gorgon.

As I sifted through the array of dresses laid out on my bed, my mind couldn't help but drift to the secret I held close to my heart—my relationship with Deuce. It had been nearly ten weeks since we started dating, but I hadn't mustered the courage to tell my older sister, Cleo de Nile. I cherished my bond with Deuce and our tight-knit group of friends—Clawdeen, Frankie, and Draculaura—but Cleo's disapproval loomed over us like a dark cloud, threatening to shatter everything we held dear.

I couldn't understand why Cleo was so against my friendship with Deuce and the others. From the moment I arrived at Monster High, they had been my closest companions, always there for me through thick and thin. But Cleo couldn't seem to see past her own prejudices, and her disapproval of our friendship only grew stronger as my relationship with Deuce deepened.

The thought of confronting Cleo about my relationship filled me with dread. I knew she wouldn't understand, wouldn't see things from my perspective. And so, I kept my relationship with Deuce hidden, afraid of the fallout if Cleo were to find out.

I was so consumed with the thoughts about Cleo that I almost forgot that I needed to get ready. The thing that pushed me out of my thoughts was Frankie talking.

"I can't believe this is finally happening!" Frankie exclaimed, twirling in front of the mirror in her own chosen dress. "I feel like a real-life princess!"

Draculaura nodded eagerly, adjusting the straps of her gown. "You look amazing, Frankie!

"Absolutely stunning," Clawdeen added, her eyes sparkling with admiration. "And, Draculaura, you're positively radiant!"

I forced a smile, trying to match their enthusiasm, but my mind was still preoccupied with thoughts of Cleo and Deuce. How could I enjoy the dance knowing that my sister disapproved of my closest friends and my boyfriend?

"Y/N, are you okay?" Frankie's voice broke through my thoughts, concern etched on her face.

I nodded quickly, plastering on a fake smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just lost in thought, I guess."

Clawdeen raised an eyebrow, her gaze lingering on me for a moment longer before she shrugged. "Well, snap out of it, girl! We've got a dance to attend and memories to make!"

"So, Y/N, you better get ready." Draculaura moved towards me, taking her light pink hands in my own. "Now let's see, what dress shall you wear?" She questioned herself.
