As the metal doors of the box creaked open, revealing the bewildering sight of the Glade's newest arrival, Kate. Newt's eyes widened in surprise. He exchanged a glance with the other boys before turning his attention back to the small figure curled up in the corner.

"It's a little girl," Newt announced, his voice carrying a note of concern.

Kate, her tiny frame trembling with fear, peered up at Newt through tear-filled eyes. She felt utterly lost and alone in this strange place, surrounded by towering walls and unfamiliar faces.

Carefully, Newt jumped into the metal box. With caseous steps, he made himself closer to the young girl, probably around six years old. Now in front of the kid, Newt crouched down to her level. "Hey there."

Newt's heart went out to the trembling girl before him, her eyes wide with fear and uncertainty. He could sense her desperation and her need for comfort and reassurance in this strange and daunting new world.

"Hey there," Newt said again, his voice gentle and soothing. He extended his hand, offering it to Kate with a warm smile. "You don't have to be scared."

Kate hesitated for a moment, her gaze fixed on Newt's outstretched hand. She longed to trust him, to believe in the safety he promised, but the shadows of fear still clung to her fragile form.

With a soft sigh, Newt withdrew his hand, understanding that his words alone were not enough to ease Kate's trembling nerves. He needed to show her, to prove to her that she was safe here among them, but nothing came to mind.

With a deep sight, he looked up at the boys surrounding the box before his eyes landed on Alby. Shaking his head, he began to stand up before the young girl reached up to take her small hand in his.

Feeling a tug on his hand, Newt's heart swelled with a mixture of relief and determination. He looked down at Kate, and her tear-streaked face turned up towards him with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

Newt tried to pull her up, but Kate held herself down as she pulled her hand out of his. And as Newt struggled to calm Kate's trembling nerves, he could sense the frustration mounting among the other boys. Despite their best efforts, Kate remained rooted in the corner, her fear too overwhelming to be assuaged by mere words.

"Newt, enough dilly-dallying. Just get her out of there," a gruff voice demanded, slicing through the tense air like a knife. The harshness in the voice only served to heighten Kate's fear, her small form trembling even more in response.

"Listen up, Gally," Newt retorted, his voice cutting through the tension like a blade. "The girl can't be more than six years old. Your approach won't help. We need patience, not force."
