Orla had told Piper everything would work out.

And it did.

Piper and Finn were dating.

Apparently, it hadn't been easy. When Amy and Finn had broken up, Piper had told Amy the truth, and her best friend had blown up at her, very angry.

But Amy had forgiven Piper. And given her blessing on her best friend dating Finn.

So tonight, Orla and James were driving to James's childhood house, to have dinner with the whole of his family. Well, not the extended, but with his mum and dad, Deborah and Mark, his two sisters, Julia and Alex, and, obviously, Piper and Finn.

Orla and James were the last two into the house, all of them already being there when they entered.

"Yo," James said, coming in casually, Orla by his side. "Party can start now I'm here, everyone!"

"Oh, no, not cause you're here," Julia, the second oldest sibling, older than James, quipped. "Cause Orls is!"

"Awww, Jules!" Orla grinned, side hugging the girl. Julia and James' banter had been the funniest thing when Orla had first joined the family, and it was still really funny now.

"Oh, hey guys!" Alex, the eldest of the four, called from the living room, sticking her head into the kitchen. Orla waved to her, looking around. Deborah was cooking at the hop, and Mark was sitting, reading at the table.

And then Orla noticed Piper and Finn, standing to the side of the proceedings. Piper looked outraged.

"Why do you look so annoyed?" Orla asked, coming over to them. "Hi, Finn," she added, smiling at the guy.

Finn smiled. "Hey."

Piper rolled her eyes.

"What's going on?" Orla looked at her.

"Well, I didn't realise James and Jules and even Alex would be here!" Piper hissed.

Orla smiled slightly. "Did Deborah not tell you she'd invited us?"

"No!"

Orla sighed. "Well, it's fine. They're not too embarrassing and Finn doesn't mind, do you?" She looked to the boy.

He smiled. "Not in the slightest."

"See?" Orla said, smiling.

She turned her attention to where Julia and James were now bickering about something else, Deborah eventually going. "Right, you two, quit it! I didn't think I would have to tell my two adult children that!"

"Mum, that doesn't even make sense!" Julia complained.

Orla scoffed and disguised it as a cough, winking at Finn.

The boy didn't seem to be phased in the slightest by anything yet, but James had hinted at the 'overprotective brother talk' earlier this evening, and that could phase him.

As Deborah busied herself in the kitchen, the three siblings plus Orla and Finn headed into the living room where Alex was, typing on her laptop.

On the way, James ruffled Piper's hair, making her yelp in indignance and try to fix it.

"Oh relax, Pipesqueak! It doesn't look any different!" James said, laughing as he slumped on the sofa.

Orla watched the glee on Finn's face as he watched James and Piper's interactions and decided to say. "Yeah, James isn't everything you've heard about. He's just a very strange, weird guy who finds messing up his sister's hair funny."
