You jolted awake, your chest rapidly rising with each sharp inhale from your lungs. Your eyes widely flashed around your surroundings in alarm before settling on a familiar figure beside you. It was Sakura. She was standing beside your seated form. Her hands were held to her chest, forming the "release" hand sign for genjutsus. Your eyes widened as the realization of being caught in a genjutsu settled in...You were a little ashamed you didn't notice in time to stop it...maybe other people missed the warning signs of the genjutsu as well?
Glancing around, your suspicions were confirmed by the many unconscious forms in the arena. The only people awake were Sakura, Kakashi, Guy-sensei, and various other Jonin.
"Are you okay (YN)?" Sakura asked, drawing your attention back to her.
"Yea, I'm okay. Are you?"
Sakura nodded with a hesitant smile before stepping away from you. She then quickly made her way over to Naruto and Shikamaru who were unconscious in the main walkway. Standing beside them were Kakashi and Guy-sensei. They were both slightly crouched, seeming prepared for a fight you were blissfully unaware of. This blissful unawareness quickly shattered as kunai flew through the air towards the two jonin. They swiftly dodged the oncoming projectiles and began attacking ninjas as they appeared before them. Kakashi quickly subdued the ninja closest to him while guy-sensei battled against two other ninja who he swiftly defeated not long after Kakashi.
"Sakura, hurry and wake them up. Time is of the essence." Kakashi demanded, startling you with how serious he sounded.
"Right!" Sakura shouted before releasing the genjutsu capturing Naruto and Shikamaru.
Naruto immediately shot up while Shikamaru continued to lay on the ground. Sakura huffed in confusion before a heated glare crossed her features as she kicked Shikamaru in the side.
"Hey! Quit sleeping!"
A heavy sigh escaped Shikamaru's lips as he slowly sat up. A look of exasperation clung to his features as he halfheartedly glared at Sakura.
"There was no need to kick me..."
From beside Shikamaru, Naruto glanced around in confusion. He watched as kunai and shuriken flew through the air and loud clangs and shouting were heard from fighting ninja.
"What's going on—" Naruto began only to be abruptly cut off as a sound ninja appeared beside him.
"Naruto! Look out!" You shouted, moving to protect Naruto as the ninja tried to attack him.
The ninja barely moved his hand before he was pinned against the wall by Guy-sensei. Guy-sensei's fist was tightly clenched around the ninja's shirt as he glared at the man.
"Not so fast." He grinned, pushing his fist harder into the other ninja's chest. The ninja hissed in pain before screaming as Guy-sensei pushed him through the wall of the arena--leaving a large hole behind as the ninja flew to the ground below.
You were shocked by Guy-sensei's sheer strength. You knew you really shouldn't be as he is a Jonin but you were nevertheless. As you thought this, you felt a cool wet surface touch your hand.
"E-Eh!? What the--" You screeched, immediately jerking your hand back as your eyes snapped down to your assailant. You honestly weren't sure what you expecting but it certainly wasn't the small dog wearing a blue jacket and a matching forehead protector in front of you.
"Hey, girl--pay attention and quit zoning out." The dog spoke, causing you to tilt your head in confusion.
What in the world was evening happening? This clearly wasn't a typical dog...maybe it was one of Kakashi's summons? You remember him talking once about how he could summon dogs...but then again maybe you hit your head when you passed out from that genjutsu and this was all a hallucination...
