chapter twenty-five; from a father's view

There were two things Khaos took pride in... Himself and his offspring. Although the latter admittedly gave him too many moments of embarrassment that will follow him for the rest of his immortal life. Still, he could not force himself to abandon them.

He was ashamed of himself for taking too long to properly acknowledge his demigod daughter and allowing his other daughter to bring destruction to the world (he'd never admit that he was proud of Gaea for wreaking havoc).

Khaos looked upon the emptiness in front of him, boredly twiddling his thumbs. Immortality's only curse was boredom. Even he, the god of everything fell to boredom. What did this particular god like to do to pass the time?

He leaned back in his throne and closed his eyes, picturing himself inside of his demigod daughter. Khaos smiled to himself, happy he allowed his daughter to go back in time so that she could save her friends she so dearly cared about.

Khaos saw his daughter struggling against the monsters that feared him and volunteer herself as a sacrifice. He nearly choked on his saliva. How could a daughter of his be so... So selfless?

"No, no..." Khaos' voice echoed inside of his daughter's mind.

If you're here to ask for praise again, go away.

"My dear speciman, why did you spare the demigods?" Khaos tsked, "they were willing to stay back."

YOU sent ME here to save THEM. Oh my gods, you are so annoying. Stop talking inside of my head, I'm trying to focus.

Khaos cursed teenage rebellion. Gaea and Nyx didn't go through their phases until they were around two thousand and three hundred years, Jinx was far too early in hers.

"I know not of what you speak of, I am only trying to be a good parent here."

He watched as his daughter grit her teeth and continued to destroy monster after monster.

He cringed, "speciman-"

Stop calling me that.

"You need to take care of yourself more. You look like you're going to have a vein pop out." He shook his head, "this is not good for you. How will I have grandchildren if you continue this 'look' you have going for yourself?"

Jinx scoffed, picking up a fallen weapon and stabbing Cyclopes. You are distracting.

An ogre nearly clubbed her in the head while she was telling off her godly parent.

"Oh dear, don't forget you have to stay by the controls for some twelve atrocious minutes. Don't let go of that button or your friends will parish and all will have been for naught." He wondered if that was encouraging enough. Parenting was harder now, back then he just threw them out and never talked to them again. Khaos chuckled, laughing at himself now trying to be a supportive parent. And gosh, did he think he was doing a wonderful job.

Jinx rolled her eyes and lingered by the button. She was actually not aware it was for twelve minutes.

Khaos could hear her concerns start to flow in. "Your sweaty finger will not slide off the button." He paused and thought of it, "well, I have noticed you sweat more than the average mortal. It could happen to you, but not any other person. Take comfort that you are one in a million."

Wow, thanks so much. Jinx's sarcasm went unnoticed by Khaos.

She was more focused on the ongoing battle.
