wasuke itadori knew something was up with his one and only grandchild. usually, he would've payed little to no attention to yuji's shenanigans but something about him these days was terribly affecting him. the older itadori knew that it was something bad because it started to affect his whole attitude towards everybody.
"i'll be out, jii-chan." he groggily says before sliding the wooden door.
but his grandfather hit his back with his cane to stop him from going. "tell me the truth, yuji." he warns before slamming the door close again. "what is happening with you?" he asks, calmly.
yuji looked up to him with heavy eyes. the spark in his brown eyes that he always wore before going to school was completely gone, even his bubbly personality too. "what? nothing's wro—"
wasuke sure would've smacked yuji again only if he wasn't so worried about him. "look, kid." he sighs before dragging him back to their living room. "it's been almost a week, alright?" he points his cane at him. "you haven't been eating properly, you don't greet our neighbors with that loud voice of yours, and you're going to school earlier than you usually do."
yuji could only blink blankly. he didn't notice how his body and attitude had changed. it was as if his body had naturally reacted like that ever since... no. sayuri is not gone. maybe something just happened and she just can't tell me yet, but i know she'll be back soon—
"is it about that sayuri girl?"
at the simplest mention of her name, yuji's attention was instantly on his grandfather.
wasuke itadori cursed lowly, but he was pretty sure yuji heard it. "i knew it." he sighed. "what happened." he asked, no— more like threatened. "you better start talking, boy." he sneered.
and so yuji told his grandfather everything. from the day that they had fun but suddenly turn into a nightmare... yuji told him everything he felt and did after that day. how he stays in front of sayuri's house before he goes to school, just to make sure she was okay, but strangely not even one person was inside their house.
from the way yuji spoke, his body language, everything that consulted that sayuri, wasuke itadori knew that she sure has his grandson hooked.
and all wasuke itadori do was listen to his grandson, the way he used to listen to his own son talk about a specific girl that lead both of them into their own end.
wasuke itadori could only hope that history won't repeat itself.
he knew it was downright stupid. he knew it was. and yet, he couldn't help but be drawn to those stupid blue flowers that reminded him of sayuri's eyes, bought it, and simply wait in their school end-ceremony, hoping that she'll miraculously show up.

"is sayuri still not coming today?" akio asked as he sat beside yuji, feeling a little pitiful at how yuji was so down these days.
fiddling with his medal from his sports club that sayuri convinced him to join, yuji shook his head. "did she ever contact any of you?" he asked.
akio looked around, seeming to know how some of his classmates around the auditorium were looking at them. they too, shook their heads.
sayuri may have been their classmate for only a year, but most of them liked her for how she tried her best to help and communicate with others once they approach her.
that's good enough to know. yuji thought as he stood up, his hand around the bouquet that was for sayuri, and started to walk out.
"yuji! the ceremony's not over yet—!" still, akio's voice was stopped by ozawa, telling him to let yuji do what he wanted.
yuji itadori didn't know where he was going. he let his body be in control instead of using his brain. so, he found himself in front of sayuri's house, reminiscing the moments that they were together.
he thought that the house would be empty today, but there were multiple people inside.
it's just that... it wasn't sayuri.
"excuse m—" yuji was cut off by a bespectacled man in a neat suit, muttering a swift apology before turning into the nearest street. "excuse me, can i ask about the people who lived here?" yuji asked the elderly man inside the front yard.
the old man stretched his back before pulling a box inside the house, which only made yuji very confused. "they're officially selling the house as it seems... felt like the people that bought it never really lived in here anyway." he shrugged.
yuji turned his head sideways, whatever comes out next, he knew it wouldn't be good. "never really lived? i'm sorry— what did you mean by that, sir?"
"that strange girl would go inside for a few minutes, then disappear after." he truthfully answered, he knew since he was their nearest neighbor and the man that satoru bought the house from. "oh... don't even get me started on that brother of hers— a bunch of weirdos if you ask me!" he said. "i'm just glad that they're not coming back here."
yuji didn't know if he'd be upset at how the old man just bad-mouthed sayuri or the fact that sayuri was... gone. it didn't really make sense for him.
sure, he noticed some things that are peculiar about sayuri, but he didn't mind it. now, he slowly regrets it at how he should've paid attention to every little detail about sayuri, no matter how weird it was, because surely if he did, yuji would've known where sayuri went.
but he didn't.
it's as if the murasaki sayuri he knew just disappeared and didn't really exist.
he was supposed to confess his feelings today, march 20th, 2017. exactly on his birthday, but instead, here he was carrying the withered blue flowers on his hand, while the other hand wiped the fallen tears off of his face.
if the Gods were even listening to him right now, yuji itadori could only hope that his birthday wish would come true — for him to meet sayuri again.
