—megumi didn't confess because he thought he had all the time in the world with sayuri.

he was assured that there will come a time when he can confess those harbored and hidden feelings of his that seemed to grow each moment he was with sayuri—that there would be any hindrances along the way.

because that's how it usually was, right?

for a decade—a long decade of knowing sayuri, she and megumi always stuck together.

"how come you're eating egg tarts now? thought you hated them." fushiguro tsumiki asks as she closes the refrigerator door, making sure to flash megumi a wicked grin—one that would make him flustered and irritated. "is it because a specific someone loves those egg tarts that you want to try them as well?"

grumbling a response, megumi couldn't help but let all those heat rise in his cheeks making them the faintest shade of red. "what about it." he murmured, chewing on the soft dessert as it melts in his mouth just as he was slowly melting for someone that he shouldn't be falling for.

megumi could vividly remember how sayuri came knocking to their small apartment door with an egg tart on her hand. she knew megumi was not fond of any sweets, but still gave it to the fushiguro siblings anyway. she and nanami baked it after all.

"just confess already!" tsumiki sits beside megumi on the cramped dining area that they have. she pinches her brother's reddened cheeks.

"why would I?" megumi snaps, a little too defensive for his liking.

"what was it again? 'i hate sweets, tsumiki, they're too much for me.' yet here you are, forcing down an egg tart like your life depends on it." she laughs as she takes a slice and tastes it for herself, taking a mental note that sayuri and nanami make a great partner for each other when making desserts. "just confess that you have a crush on her already." she nagged on.

megumi didn't answer. they both sat there eating their egg tarts contentedly, with one sibling hoping the best for her brother, while the other not minding the feeling that he seemed to be fond of.

plus, it's not like megumi will run out of time, right?

that's what megumi always thought—that sayuri would always be there.

because if sayuri had been beside him for half a decade, then she certainly would be there by the time he gathers up all the courage to confess, right?

that's what megumi always thought, and now he couldn't help but wish that he had taken tsumiki's advice back then.
