I am unwell.
I am so unwell that I don't think words can describe how I feel.
The entire elevator ride from the garage to the ninth floor, which Ateez was practicing, felt like it took years off my life. The cause for that was I had Yoongi and Hoseok in the elevator, with a confused Namjoon pestering me the entire time.
I had barely said a word to Hoseok, and I could barely communicate with Yoongi. So I stayed silent and begged God to speed up the damn elevator. Once the elevator sounded our arrival, I hurried down the hall, with Yoongi begging me to talk to him from behind me.
"Cova, would you just talk to us-"
"Look at that! Bangtan is here! Take it away, boys!" I chime as I quickly walk into the practice room with a tight smile across my face.
"Cova," Yoongi silently growled from behind me, but one look effectively shut him up.
I was not a sub today.
"It's also English testing today," I hummed as I scanned the room, "Hongjoong?"
Hongjoong looked up and perked an eyebrow, "again?"
My eyes turned to slits at his confusion, "are you ready for your turn or not?"
Hongjoong's eyebrow rose further. " No. I'm busy. I'm finishing learning this dance move."
I rolled my eyes but silently cheered, "All right then. Seonghwa, you're up."
Thankfully, the latter didn't resist, and he immediately followed me.
"We need to talk about this," Hoseok muttered as he grabbed my arm, but I shifted my glare to him.
"At work, you address me professionally, or you will not be here at all," I growled, pulling my arm away and walking out into the hall, not caring if Seonghwa was behind me. But a few moments later, I could hear his heavy footsteps in tow, and I sighed in relief as we made our way silently down the hall and into my office.
Extending a hand for Seonghwa to head in, I closed the door behind him and shut my blinds. Seonghwa turned his head curiously but didn't say anything; he just sat in the chair before my desk.
Moving to sit in my chair in front of him, I handed him his paper and a pen. Seonghwa's head tilted curiously as he looked at the paper and then expressionlessly looked up at me.
"It's blank-"
"You're going to listen to me, and if anyone comes in here, you're practicing writing a short sentence in English. Got it?"
Seonghwa looked at me perplexed, but I assumed the stress on my face showed him I was serious.
"What is going on?" After a moment of silence, he finally asked, and the weight of the last few days started to hit me.
"I have no one else to talk to about this..." I trailed off shakily, looking away from Seonghwa and up at the ceiling to avoid tears leaving my eyes. You're my friend-one of my best friends at that. Or at least, I hope you still are. I need to talk to someone before I drown."
Seonghwa's eyes fell to the floor with emotion. " Of course, I'm your friend...I just don't want...what I mean-yeah...okay," he finally concluded, crossing his long leg over the other and grabbing the pen, ready in case anyone walked in. " Spill your guts, friend."
I looked back towards the window and hesitated. I was not supposed to say anything about this, not even morally but legally.
"You can trust me," Seonghwa coaxed, and one look into his eyes told me I knew he meant it: "I won't tell a soul what you're about to tell me-even Hongjoong, not that we're even really speaking at the moment."
