"How does it feel now?" I asked Seonghwa as he tested his knee with his new wrap. Wooyoung carelessly spun in the desk chair beside me, the occasional 'wee' exiting his mouth as he spun circles.
"Better. The ice helped," he muttered, clearly still embarrassed.
"I still don't understand Hongjoong hyung," Wooyoung commented as he made his twentieth spin in the chair, "that move wasn't even hard. You'll nail it next time."
Seonghwa smiled softly, but the heavy sigh he released wiped it away.
"It's not a big deal, accidents happen. Hell, I broke my toe once because I kicked the ice off the bottom of my car too hard," I tried to cheer him up, and Wooyoung snorted.
"You're a normie; we're idols. We're built differently. If I broke my toe because of that, that would just be sad."
Looking next to me, I grabbed the spare ice pack and chucked it at him, causing him to lose his balance and fall off the chair.
"At least I'd be able to hold on to the chair," I teased as Wooyoung groaned.
"Jeez, woman, you're insane," he muttered, standing and rubbing his newly bruised ass.
"So you're okay physically," I murmured, watching Seonghwa stretch out his body and ignoring Wooyoung's groans. "But what about mentally?"
Seonghwa gave me a half smile and shrugged, "I'm not the one you should worry about. How are you? Have you-have you talked to him since this weekend?" He lowered his voice as he asked, looking to Wooyoung to ensure he wasn't paying attention.
I shook my head softly, trying to keep a smile on my face, but I knew it appeared as a sad one. "No. I ignored all his calls and messages. Hoseok sent me a few, too, but I didn't even read them; I just deleted the thread."
Seonghwa sucked air through his teeth, "cold," he giggled in English.
"Ice Woman," I responded, quoting The Parent Trap, and Seonghwa laughed. He loved that movie.
We stared at each other briefly before he tilted his head, "are you going to be okay back in there? I can make my injury sound worse and get you a pass to take me home."
I smirked at his idea and shook my head, "I remain professional at work. That won't change because of a man."
Seonghwa smiled and nodded, "That I know."
Seonghwa and I continued to make small talk, catching up on topics we hadn't talked about in weeks. Meanwhile, Wooyoung continued to stalk Atiny's TikTok accounts, laughing at a few of the edits he'd find. We patiently waited for the nurse to come back and clear Seonghwa, but a news alert on the TV caught all of our attention with the first seven words.
"BTS has been pardoned from military service."
My head snapped to the TV, and Seonghwa and Wooyoung's eyes snapped to me.
"Bangtan Sonyeondan, Korea's most famous boy group, has been pardoned yesterday by South Korea's government from any military service. The group will instead mentor other musical groups and work for Big Hit Entertainment in place of fulfilling the duty every 18 to 30-year-old Korean male must participate in. The seven-member group agreed with the Korean government last week after months of deliberation of what their alternate duties would entail. The group had proved to our military branch what mentorship would look like from them with an undisclosed group they're currently working with, but we weren't given further comments on that. For now, their main duties will be mentoring other musical groups, and working with Hybe to grow the future of K-Pop and Korea's growing musical economy. More on this tonight-"
