Adrian extended his hand, and I hesitantly placed my fingers in his palm. The drive had taken around forty minutes, but the breathtaking scenery along the way had captivated me, so I couldn't find it in myself to complain. When we arrived, I stepped out of the car, my hand still intertwined with Adrian's as he shut the door behind me. It was a subtle gesture, but one that sent tingles dancing across my skin.
"I thought we were going to the beach," I say, casting a confused gaze around our surroundings, which seems doesn't seem like a beach. Adrian looks down at me, his lips curving into a soft, reassuring smile. "We have to walk down that path over there. It's a bit hidden, but I promise it's worth it," he murmured, gesturing towards a concealed trail.
I knew Adrian was making this effort because I had explicitly expressed my desire for him to do so. The idea of marriage still seemed wildly improbable to me, but lately, his behavior had been so different, so alluring, that I found myself unable to resist the pull of his company. He led me down the winding staircase.
Suddenly, Adrian sweeps me off my feet, hoisting me onto his broad shoulder, with a surprised scream from my lips. "Adrian!" I shout, my heart pounding against my ribcage.
He chuckled, the vibration of his chest reverberating through my body. "Let me make it easier for you," he said, his strong hands securing me against his firm frame. The contact sent a flutter of butterflies to my stomach, and I find myself unable to resist the allure of his touch, which always ignited a spark of electricity within me.
"I am perfectly capable of walking down the stairs," I protest weakly, squirming against his grip."I know you can, Valentina, but let me carry you," he insists, and I could only huff in response.
After what felt like an eternity, Adrian finally comes to a halt, and I lift myself upright. The sound of crashing waves and the salty tang of the ocean air assault my senses, and as I turned to look behind me, I was left utterly breathless.
The sun was setting, painting the sky in a breathtaking display of pinks and golds. The water glistened, a mesmerizing shade of clear blue.
"Woah," I breathe out, my eyes wide with awe. Adrian gently sets me down on the soft, white sand, and I couldn't help but marvel at the enchanting scene before me. "This is beautiful," I say, my gaze drinking in every detail.
The wind caressed my skin, and I shivered, glancing over to see Adrian watching me intently. "Certainly is," he murmurs, his eyes filled with an emotion I couldn't quite decipher.
"Let's sit down," he suggests, guiding me further onto the beach, our hands still entwined. My heart nearly melted at the sight that awaited us , a table adorned with roses and fairy lights, an assortment of food and fruits, and flickering candles that cast a warm, inviting glow.
"You did all of this?" I look up at Adrian, my voice barely above a whisper, and he nodded, pulling out a chair for me.
"It's beautiful, thank you," I say, settling into the seat as he takes the one opposite me. My gaze can't help but linger on his impeccable suit, even in this serene, natural setting, he manages to look perfectly put together."I didn't know what kind of food you liked, so I got options," he explains, and I couldn't help but smile.
