5. Progress

Astrid's POV

"Focus, Hiccup!" I heard Gobber yell. "Today I all about attack. Nadders are quick and light on their feet. Your job is to be quicker and lighter."

The Nadder jumped from wall to wall. It stopped once it saw someone, I'm not sure who, and shot spikes from its tail.

Deadly Nadders are my favorite.

"Look for it's blind spot. Every dragon has one. Find it. Hide in it. And strike." Gobber instructed.

I heard the twins arguing about something before Gobber spoke again, "Blind spot? Yes. Deaf spot? Not so much."

Hiccup stopped to question Gobber about...Night Furies? Weird. He kept talking and looked over at Snotlout, Talulahh, and I. We used hand gestured to tell him to shut up and his with us.

I rolled with my sheild, Snotlout next, then Talulahh, and-Oh,Thor.Hiccup tried to roll but ended up failing.

Hiccup ran another direction while the three of us rab together. We saw the Nadder coming straight towards us and I got ready, so did Talulahh. "Watch put, babes. I got this." Snotlout told us while pushing Talulahh and I put of the way.

We both watched as Snotlout threw his mace at the Nadder, missing terribly. "Th sun was in my eyes, girls. What do you wan me to do? Block out the sun? I can do that."

All of the teenagers, except Talulahh,ran past Hiccup, who was still talking with Gobber. Talulahh was trying to get her brother to move when I yelled, "Hiccup, Talulahh!"

I jumped off one of the walls of the maze, landing on Talulahh, who pulled Hiccup down with us.

"Ooo, love on the battlefield."

"She could do better"

My axe got stuck in Hiccup's sheild, both me and Talulahh tried to pry it out.

I got up and noticed the Nadder headed straight towards us. I panicked an pried Hiccup's sheild off of him, stepping on his face as I did so.

I once I got the sheild off of his arm I quickly broke it over the Nadder's head.

"Well done, Astrid." Gobber told me.

I turned to look at Hiccup with an angry expression. "Is this some kind of a joke to you?" I asked. "Our parents war is about to become ours, figure out which side your on." I told him harshly.

I turned and helped Talulahh up, I dragged her off  before she could say anything.

I took her to the beach and sat down. "Why is your brother not like you?" I asked.

"What do you mean? He's a lot like me." She questioned, glancing at me.

"I mean your strong and pretty and smart and you know social cues and stuff like that. Why doesn't he?" I said, unintentionally complementing her. But I meant it.

"Thanks. And, I don't know. Maybe he just needs time. He's not horrible, y'know." She told me.

"Yeah, I guess so. "I laid back in the sand.

She laid back too. We sat there in silence for a long while.

Talulahh was the first to speak," Thank you, Assi."I loved that nickname, though I didn't tell he that. It was only for her to use, that's what makes it better.

"For what?" I asked, turning my head to look at her. She was starting at the sky.

"Being my friend. I love you." She said, making my heart skip a beat.
