53. Deathsong Drama

Talulahh's POV:

The ground rumbled. I woke up, groaning. "Stupid volcano." I mumbled. Ever since the Viggo...thing, the volcano has been acting up.

"This doesn't feel right." I looked at Chip.

I ran out of my hut. Hiccup and Astrid were there too. "Was that-" Astrid started.

"More intense than normal?" Hiccup guessed. "No doubt."

"Woah!" I yelped as the ground shook again.

"All right, everyone got their Gronckle Iron?" Hiccup asked.

We all nodded.

"Just like we practiced, guys. And don't spill any. We can't afford to loose a drop." Hiccup reminded us, then we flew off.

"This is worse than we thought." I spoke up, looking at all of the lava that was spilling around the Edge.

"Yeah, I know! Oh, my 'S'." Snotlout teared up. "Hiccup, look at it. You know how attached I am to my 'S'."

"Snotlout, no one cares about your 's'. Just keep pouring Gronckle Iron into the cracks." Hiccup instructed.

"What's so important about the 'S'?" Elodie frowned from behind Dahlia.

Ruff and Tuff poured a little bit of Gronckle Iron into the lava. It hardened, then the lava popped, shooting a ball of Iron  into the air. It flew up and hit Snotlout on the head.

He passed out, falling off of Hookfang. "Char grilled Snotlout, anyone?" Tuff grinned.

"He'll have a nice smokey finish from the lava." Ruff added with a grin.

"Guys!" I rolled my eyes, swooping down to catch Snotlout. I laid him on the landing pad.

I flew towards the geyser-like openings, pouring Gronckle Iron to hopefully stop the lava.

By morning, the lava was gone, but things were still smoking. And Snotlout was still on the ground, unconscious.

"This is a disaster." Astrid noted, looking around at all the damage.

"I've seen worse." Tuff shrugged.

"You mean you've caused worse." Fishlegs corrected.

"Huh, I wish. This is Odin's handiwork himself, my friend. But I, I am a mere mortal." Tuff said dramatically.

Snotlout groaned, standing up. "You happy now, Hiccup?"

"Happy? What? What did I do?" Hiccup asked, confused.

"We should have left this pile of rocks months ago, but no. You wanted to keep exploring. 'Hiccup the explorer'." Snotlout mocked.

"You know I'd rather plant dragon root under my fingernails than agree with Snotlout." Astrid spoke up.

Tuff shrugged, "Don't waste your time, A. That stuff needs a ton of light to grow. So unless you're willing to stand outside-"

Astrid cut him off. "I think it might be time to head back to Berk. Viggo and Ryker are gone. The Dragon Eye is destroyed. Even Mother Nature is telling us to go."

"Huh?" Snotlout mumbled, confused.

"Uh, Mother Earth? The Earth Mother?" Ruff said in a 'duh!' tone.

"The earliest roots date back to the Mesopotamian tablets,which show the personification of the creative and nurturing side of nature as a femals deity. You should read more." Tuff explained.
