As dawn's first light began to paint the sky with hues of orange and pink, Bard, Legolas, and the royal guards made their way through the eastern side of the Misty Mountains, the rhythmic clopping of the horse's hooves echoing against the rocky terrain. Sitting in front of Legolas, Bard guided the horse with steady hands while Legolas wrapped his arms around Bard's waist for warmth and to keep a secure grip.

Legolas' eyes scanned the horizon, watching the landscape transform as the sun began to rise. His thoughts were a swirl of curiosity and contemplation. His internal conflict about Bard being a potential soulmate weighed heavily on him. Despite the unease, there was an undeniable curiosity about the human archer sitting close to him.

"Tell me more about yourself, Bard," Legolas said, his voice steady but laced with genuine interest. "How did you become deeply involved in the fight against Smaug?"

Bard adjusted the reins and glanced back at Legolas with a thoughtful expression. "Like I said before, I was born in Lake Town, a place that thrived until Smaug's fire turned ash. I saw my people suffer, and I couldn't stand by and watch them perish without doing something. I set out to find allies and reclaim what was lost. It's more than just revenge; it's about restoring hope to those who have lost everything."

Legolas nodded, understanding the gravity of Bard's mission. "Your dedication is admirable. As I also said before, I lost my mother to the Smaug's wrath. She was a beloved figure in our land, and her death has left a void in the hearts of many."

Bard's eyebrows furrowed in sympathy. "I'm sorry to hear that. It must be difficult to carry such a loss with you."

"It is," Legolas replied. "But it also drives me. It's one of the reasons I am on this journey. My father, Thranduil, loved my mother dearly, but their relationship was more of a deep friendship than romantic love. They chose to have me to secure an heir, and in doing so, they forged a loving and practical bond."

Bard looked intrigued. "So, Lady Luna Lovegood is to be your father, Thranduil's soulmate? That must be quite a change from what you've known."

"Indeed," Legolas said, his voice tinged with reverence and uncertainty. "It's a significant change. But I believe that Father's happiness is worth it. I will support their union if Lady Luna can bring him joy and peace."

Bard nodded, absorbing Legolas' words. "And what of you? How do you feel about this change in your family's dynamics?"

Legolas hesitated for a moment. "It is complicated. I feel a great deal of responsibility, and I am hopeful that Lady Luna will bring a new sense of harmony to our realm. Yet, I find myself conflicted, wondering if my feelings about her might influence my actions."

Their conversation continued as they rode, the morning sun casting a golden glow over the landscape. Bard and Legolas grew more comfortable with each other, sharing stories and discussing their worlds.

As they neared Rivendell, the majestic elven city came into view, its spires and elegant architecture shining against the backdrop of the Misty Mountains. The sight filled Legolas with relief and anticipation.

Upon arrival, the guards of Rivendell, recognizing Legolas immediately, approached with respect and deference. They escorted Bard, Legolas, and the other elves through the city's winding paths, the grandeur of Rivendell unfolding before them. The serenity and beauty of the elven town were a stark contrast to the rugged journey they had just completed.
