The Hogwarts corridors were bustling with students heading to their next class, but Y/N Nott was in no rush. She walked leisurely, her mind wandering as she thought about the upcoming Potions exam. Being Theodore Nott's little sister had its perks, but it also came with a lot of expectations. Theo was always watching out for her, and sometimes it felt like he was more of a bodyguard than a brother.

"Y/N!" a familiar voice called out, snapping her out of her thoughts. She turned to see Pansy Parkinson and Daphne Greengrass waving at her.

"Hey, you two," Y/N greeted them with a smile.

"Are you coming to the common room later?" Daphne asked. "We're planning a little study session for Potions."

"Yeah, I could use the help," Y/N admitted. "I'll be there."

As they chatted, Y/N couldn't help but notice Mattheo Riddle leaning against the wall, his eyes fixed on her. He had a reputation for being a bit of a troublemaker, but there was something about him that intrigued her. Their eyes met, and he gave her a small, almost imperceptible nod.

"Looks like someone has an admirer," Pansy teased, following Y/N's gaze.

"Shut up," Y/N muttered, feeling her cheeks heat up.

"Mattheo Riddle, huh?" Daphne said, raising an eyebrow. "Be careful with that one. He's trouble."

"I know," Y/N replied, but she couldn't deny the flutter in her stomach whenever she saw him.

Later that evening, Y/N made her way to the Slytherin common room. The atmosphere was cozy, with students scattered around, some studying, others chatting. She spotted her brother Theo sitting with Enzo, Draco, and Mattheo. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw Mattheo look up and smile at her.

"Y/N, over here!" Theo called, waving her over. She joined them, feeling a bit nervous under Mattheo's intense gaze.

"Hey, sis," Theo said, ruffling her hair affectionately. "How's the studying going?"

"Alright, I guess," she replied, trying to ignore Mattheo's presence.

"Need any help?" Enzo offered. "I'm pretty good at Potions."

"Thanks, Enzo," Y/N said, grateful for the distraction.

As they studied, Y/N couldn't help but steal glances at Mattheo. He was quiet, his focus seemingly on his own work, but every now and then, their eyes would meet, and she felt a spark of something she couldn't quite define.

After a while, Theo stood up. "I'm going to get some more books from the library. Be right back."

As soon as Theo left, Mattheo shifted closer to Y/N. "Hey," he said softly.

"Hi," she replied, her heart racing.

"I've noticed you around," he admitted, his voice low and sincere. "You're different from the others."

"Different how?" she asked, genuinely curious.

"You're kind, smart, and you don't put up with anyone's nonsense," he said, his eyes locking onto hers. "I like that."

Y/N felt her cheeks flush. "Thanks, Mattheo."

"Would you like to go for a walk?" he asked, glancing around to make sure Theo wasn't nearby.

"I'd love to," she said, standing up.

They slipped out of the common room and wandered through the dimly lit corridors of Hogwarts. The castle was quiet, and the only sounds were their footsteps and the occasional distant chatter of other students.

"So, how's it being Theo's sister?" Mattheo asked as they walked.

"It has its ups and downs," Y/N admitted. "He's very protective, sometimes overly so."

"I can see that," Mattheo said with a chuckle. "But it's nice to have someone who cares about you."

"Yeah, it is," she agreed. "What about you? What's it like being... well, you?"

Mattheo shrugged. "It's complicated. People expect a lot from me because of my father, but I try to just be myself. It's not always easy."

"I can imagine," Y/N said sympathetically.

They walked in comfortable silence for a while, enjoying each other's company. Eventually, they found themselves in a secluded part of the castle, away from prying eyes.

"Y/N," Mattheo said, stopping and turning to face her. "I really like you. I know Theo might not approve, but I wanted you to know."

Y/N's heart swelled with emotion. "I like you too, Mattheo. But you're right, Theo won't be happy about this."

"We'll figure it out," Mattheo said, taking her hand. "I don't want to hide how I feel."

"Neither do I," Y/N said, squeezing his hand.

Just as they rounded another corridor hand in hand they ran into Theo.

"Woah, woah woah what's going on here?"

They immediately dropped their hands to their sides.

"Y/N I think you should go back to the common room, Mattheo and I are going to have a little talk", Theo said gritting his teeth.

Y/N had no choice but to leave Mattheo and Theo alone and make the trek back alone to the common room.

Heart beating at a fast pace Y/N sat on a couch with the others eyes fixated on the common room door waiting for Mattheo and Theo to make it back.

As everyone started to make their way to their dorms to go to sleep Y/N was reluctant to go as Theo and Mattheo had not made it back yet.

"Y/N, are you coming?", Pansy asked as her and Daphne stood up to go to their dorm.

"Uhm I'm going to stay back awhile, there are a few things I still need to go over", she lied.

"Suit yourself", Pansy shrugged heading up to her dorm.

Soon after the others had left the door to the common room opened and in walked Theo, with a determined look on his face followed by Mattheo who had a goofy smile on his face.

"Y/N if you want to do this", Theo said pointing between Mattheo and her, "you can, just not in front of me", and with that Theo walked up to his dorm and slammed the door loud enough you could hear it in the common room.

"Well, Nott I didn't know you had a bodyguard", Mattheo said as he sat down next to her.

"Huh?"

"I'm starting to think Theo's more of a bodyguard than a brother, he just gave me a whole speech about what he would do if I caused one little problem with you"

Y/N laughed and placed her head on Mattheo's shoulder making both their hearts melt.
