Chapter 88: They never gave it to him.

Scene for Kingdom Hearts: Hollow Man 2. 

In the borrowed car, Frank, Maggie, Sara, Ben, and Arthur are switching clothes. Sora, Kairi, Jeremy, and Aelita are in the far back. Frank continues driving.

Frank: (To Maggie) Ok, start talking. Both of you. 

Both Maggie and Arthur look at them. They all look at them.

Maggie: Five years ago, a team of molecular biologists broke the code for human invisibilty. But the program was scrapped, almost overnight. 

Frank: Why?

Arthur: Because there was an incident. And all but some of the first team were killed. In their debrief, they said something went seriously wrong. Their own project leader tested the stuff on himself, making himself invisible. And he went insane. He started killing his own team one by one. Heck, he even killed his old mentor. The project leader's name was Dr. Sebastian Caine. 

Sora, Kairi, Jeremy, and Aelita's eyes widen. They're talking about him. 

Ben: So, we're dealing with this Caine guy?

Arthur: No. He's dead. The survivors killed him by burning him alive. Sora and his friends, because they were there. Caine invited them to see the test results. And they all barely got out of there alive.  

Maggie: A year later, Reisner started up again with covert funding from the DOD. The operation was codenamed Silent Knight, with a "K." 

Frank: (Sighs) Cute. 

Maggie: The idea was create the ultimate national security weapon, an undetectable soldier. Reisner managed to reproduce the original test results. Then he called me and my brother in to correct the defects. 

Jeremy: I don't get it. We thought it was all destroyed when Caine destroyed the lab. 

Arthur: It was, but after the fire was put out, they managed to find some of the works that survived the explosion. But there's a flaw in the invisibility code. The serum turns human tissure invisible, but it also has horrible side effects. Which is why Dr. Caine went nuts. 

Maggie: Simply put, the serum allows light to pass directly through us...

Frank: I--I was there, I believe you. 

Maggie: Ok, but the radiation...

Frank: Just--just tell me about the guy. 

Maggie: It damages your cells. Over time, it kills them.

Frank: Skip the science lecture. Just tell us about him, and make it simple.

Sara: Yes, please. We need to know who he is. 

Maggie: Ok. Dying test subjects, not good. So my brother and I developed a compound called the buffer to keep him alive. 

Sora: So it's not Sebastian. Who is this guy?

Maggie: His name was Michael Griffin. He was Special Forces. He'd been in Afrghanistan, Iran, Iraq. 

Arthur: He was Sergeant White's close friend. They've worked with each other on two tours. 

Flashback

Arthur walks to where the operation is gonna take place. He sees Maggie, with Devin, and White. They're with a man strapped to a chair. His name is Michael Griffin. 

Maggie: How do you feel? 

Michael: I feel like I'm about to blast off. I feel ready. 

Maggie turns to get the stuff, but Michael grabs her hand. She looks at him. He looks at her.
