In Oklahoma, oil fields are operating while the skies look very dark and cloudly. The clouds begin to move fast, and combine together. And thunder is heard. The thunder gets very loud as the wind starts blowing hard, and a wall cloud is made at night. On a farm home, thunder lights up all around the place. Inside, a family is inside. Most are sleeping while two men are up. A man and his brother. The man is making a hot tea while his brother is on the couch, sitting down. He's looking at the TV, and it says on the news that there's a tornado. There's words on the TV news channel. "Tornado warning."
Man: Bro, come here. Look at this.
His brother comes in while drinking his tea. The newsman comes on in the news room. He's telling everyone about the tornado.
Newsman: ...circling northeast in Kingfisher Canyon, moving northeast. Also I do wanna say, you folks back their way, a little bit earlier, Bill made the tornado warning continues now and has been extended officially I gave this to you earlier-- But extended over into Oklahoma County, to--Let's call it-- They're calling all of Oklahoma County, but right now maybe we can...
Just then, the wind roars outside. Both men look at the window, and are now getting a terrible feeling about this.
Man: Bro, what do we do?
Man 2: Christian, get your son. Now. We need to go down into the storm cellar.
Christian nods, and runs to a room. He opens the door, and sees his son, Tim sleeping.
Christian: Tim!
Tim: (Wakes up, and looks at him) Dad, what is it? What's wrong?
Christian: Come on, we need to go. Come on. Up you go.
Tim gets up as his father helps him up. They both get out of the room, and his brother comes downstairs with his family. Tim hears the house creaking as the winds and thunder are getting loud, really loud.
Man: Tv says it's big. Might be an F-5.
Christian: Aw, shoot. This is bad.
Woman: Ok, we're going to the storm cellar.
Christian: Ok. Come on, Tim. Stay with me.
Tim nods, and walks with them. He's standing near his dad, and his aunt and cousin, Jo.
Jo: Toby! Toby! Toby! Toby! Toby!
Tim: Wait, dad! Toby's upstairs! (Runs to the stairs)
Christian: Tim, wait!
Aunt: Tim, no!
Tim: Toby, come here! Come downstairs! Come on, boy!
He looks up, and sees Toby coming down. It's the family's dog. He's barking as he runs down the stairs. Tim picks him up, and runs to his dad.
Christian: Come on.
They all run out of the house.
Man: Hurry, we gotta move! Hand her to me!
She hands Jo to him, and they all run to the storm cellar. Tim looks around as he runs. The wind is really blowing, and the thunder is loud. Then, lightning strikes one of the trees, and one of the branches fall down. Tim gasps as he sees this. The chickens around the house are running for it too. The mailbox is now on the ground. It says, "Thorntons." They see the cellar ahead. Christian runs to the door, and reaches for it. He grabs the handle, and opens the door.
Christian: I got it! Get in, get in!
They all get inside the cellar, and after they get in, Christian and his brother close the door, and lock it. Tim hands jo Toby, who hugs him. Tim looks around as he sits down. His aunt lights up a lantern.
Man: Grab Jo, honey!
Jo: Daddy!
Mrs. Thornton picks up Jo as Mr. Thornton walks to her and comforts her. Tim looks at his dad, who sits by him. They all need to wait this out. But just then, the door starts shaking. The tornado is trying to pull it out. Toby is barking. Christian looks.
Christian: Oh, no! Bro! The door!
Mr. Thornton: (To his wife) Take Jo.
He walks to the door, and holds onto it, trying to hold it still, but the wind and speed outside is really strong. He yells.
Mr. Thornton: Gosh! I can't hold it!
Christian looks at the door, and he sees the locks are breaking. Everyone looks at him, gasping.
Mr. Thornton: Dear gosh! I can't hold it anymore!
Tim looks up with Jo. They look through the small windows on the cellar, and they see the wind is picking up speed out there, along with stuff being tossed into the air, meaning that the tornado is now here. Mr. Thornton keeps trying to hold onto the door, but is failing.
Christian: Bro, get away from the door! Come away from it! Get out of there!
Mr. Thornton: I can't! Oh, gosh!
Christian's eyes widen as he sees the door is now coming off. But then, something happens. The door is now blocked by something, keeping it from coming off. They can hear the tornado outside as the door now has cracks on it. Christian pulls his brother away from the door. Jo runs to her father.
Jo: Daddy!
He holds onto his daughter as his wife kneels down to him. Tim comes to his father. They all look at the door. And then, they all hear loud screeching, like a huge bird is calling out. Tim is panting as he hears this. Then, something is peeking through the crack of the door. Tim looks, and he looks closely. He sees it's some kind of bird.

It looks at him, and he looks back at it. It screeches, and flies off. Tim couldn't believe it. His uncle was saved by a bird. The tornado continues as the door is still shielded by something, and they all hold onto each other. Toby is whining as he stays near them. The next morning, the sun rises. The tornado is over. The family all come out of the cellar, and they see that the house and farm is completely destroyed. Nothing is left standing. Christian sighs as he puts his hands on his knees. He looks at his brother, who is holding Jo. Looks like they were lucky to be alive. Although they lost the house, it doesn't matter. Because they're alive. And that's all that matters. Tim couldn't shake off the thing. What kind of bird was that? And why did it save them? Looks like he's gonna be thinking about this for the rest of his life.
