You never meant to keep it a secret. You just didn't want it to interfere with your work, and if Santa or Curtis found out, you were both done for. Surely, there was a rule against dating another elf, but you came to the North Pole already married to the number 1 elf. Maybe the rule didn't apply to you? Maybe there wasn't even a rule at all? Who knew?
You met him purely by chance while he was away from the Pole on business. You were out gathering ingredients for another recipe you found and accidentally ran into Bernard. You both started talking, and it only grew from there. He kept going back to see you, and eventually, you got married. That's when you decided to relocate to the North Pole since he had made all of the sacrifices to see you, and he was just named the number 1 elf at the time. You were a baker, so you fit in perfectly.
You and Bernard never let your relationship interfere with your jobs. He was there to make sure Christmas went on without a hitch, and you were there to run the kitchen. You were a Keebler elf, and you were pretty well known for your baking skills. Bernard rarely made stops in the kitchens before, so this was the perfect place for you and him to keep everything hidden. That's it. After hours, you two would rather hide out in your accommodations. Not only would you both be totally drained socially, but it wasn't worth the risk of getting caught by Santa or Curtis to go out around the Pole.
When you moved into the kitchens, Bernard noticeably started making more stops in the kitchens or actually taking hot cocoa breaks. That being said, it was only a matter of time before Curtis and Santa started following along.
"I'm telling you, Santa! He's trying to make a move, and it's not looking good!" Curtis blurted out as soon as he cornered Santa in his office. "He's hopeless! He needs our help."
"I think Bernard has it covered," Santa dismissed, going back to the lists that still needed to be checked twice, but Curtis grabbed the sheet out of his hands. "Why do you care so much about Bernard's love life? Why can't you let him live in peace?"
"Because he needs a life outside of work! Haven't you noticed that he just disappears after work?" Curtis questioned as he walked around Santa's office and continued listing points, "He just vanishes, and he needs to have a life. I've seen the way he looks at the new head baker, and honestly, I think a baker is exactly what he needs. If he has an eye on the baker, so be it! We need to set them up. I've caught them both eyeing each other, yet neither of them has made a REAL move! You need to help me here, Santa."
