In front of you stands a wall of fence, separating your group from a huge, dark, and eerie forest. "This is the location for the second phase of the exam. It's the 44th Battle Training Zone. But we call it, the Forest of Death." Anko grins.

Naruto gulps, "Forest of Death?"

"When can we go in!?" You cheer.

"What do you mean, you were one of them?" Zabuza narrows his eyes, his grip on his weapon relaxing just enough to sheath it, though his gaze never wavers from Alina's form. "Explain."

Alina's smile is laced with a hint of amusement, her eyes sparkling with a taunting glint as she leans back in her chair, crossing one leg over the other. "You have ears, do you not? I said I used to be an Akatsuki."

Kakashi chimes in now, "I believe what Cow- ehem, Zabuza was trying to say is... if you were a member of the Akatsuki, what are you doing here?"

"Well~" Alina takes a swig from her canteen that is most definitely not filled with water, "There's really not much to explain. I joined the Akatsuki because it suited me at the time. Life in my village was dull, and I craved adventure, excitement, and the chance to see the world."

A voice cuts her off, "Dear child," Asuma says calmly, "Kindly try not to lie to my most trusted Jonin. It does not bode well for your future bonds together."

Alina roles her eyes sarcastically, "Fine. They paid me a crap ton of money. Like, I-could-afford-to-feed-Naruto kind of money. Then, they started trying to get me into this super weird cult-y stuff. Plus they cut my pay. So I left."

Asuma speaks again, "After which Miss Alina joined forces with us to take down their organisation. I can assure you all she is a trustworthy ally to us; She will prove useful in both skill and information. So, please do at least try to get along with Alina- Despite some of your grievances with her past allegiances."

Another Jonin speaks up, "Sir. With all due respect, how can you be so sure?"

This catches the attention of the other Jonin, who murmur in agreement.

Zabuza nods, "How can we trust her around the kids?" Especially Y/n and Haku...

"Miss Alina is not going to be leading a team of her own, as she currently has no village of her own." Asuma replies, calming the crowd. "She was only even allowed onto the Chunin exam site at my explicit approval and as an honorary member of my own village. However, she will be advising us as an expert in Akatsuki affairs. That is all she will be responsible for. I trust that in the event she were to attempt to deceive us, you will all be vigilant enough to catch any discrepancies."

"Yup." Alina says, putting away her flask and standing up, "What he said. Now, let's go check on those kiddos you were so worried about, eh?"

^^^Currently, at the Forest of Death. Brought to you by the bar Alina is single-handedly keeping in business^^^

You stare at the gates as they rise above you, an archway crowned with heavy stone. You squint your eyes to peer between the cracks in the rock, trying to gain even a small advantage in the competition to come; because, obviously, knowing the future isn't already an advantage. Unfortunately, you can't see much past a strangely serene canopy of trees and the shifting light they allow to filter to the ground in the breeze. It was peaceful.

Wait.

Peaceful?

"...Hey, where's S/n?"

Haku's head whips around to face you, an emotion that you didn't quite think suited his kind face flashing across it. Sure enough, S/n was nowhere to be found. Haku discreetly checks some nearby bushes, while you lift a nearby rock. Nothing.
