Volume 2; Chap 2.2

"So then, do you really think you're a match against gravity?" The ginger smirked as Yosano and Kenji stood their ground after attacking. Chuuya stood in the center of the hole in the ground after their attack, standing on the only part of the ground that didn't get dented in.

"Listen up." Fukuzawa ordered through the camera, "I have something to say to you."

"What?" Chuuya looked up at the camera as Fukuzawa and Ranpo watched them through the camera on a laptop.

"If we defeat the guild, you will have effectively reduced your enemy strength without lifting a finger. If you're lucky, the agency and the Guild will have taken each other out all together." Fukuzawa said.

"But you really have nothing to lose." Chuuya closed his eyes before opening them again and looking back at the camera, "Am I right?"

"If what you say is true then yes." Fukuzawa looked at Ranpo and gestured for him to use Ultra Deduction with his glasses.

Ranpo looked at him before looking back down, "whatever."

Fukuzawa looked back at the laptop, "so what are you keeping from us?"

"Nothing." Chuuya answered.

"There must be some action the Port Mafia plans to take." Fukuzawa said as Ranpo put on his glasses.

Chuuya's mouth curved upward, "You would be wrong about that one."

Ranpo's eyes widened as he realized and looked at the laptop, "Now I understand. They don't have to do anything."

Fukuzawa looked at Ranpo.

"Like us, the Guild would've been weary about falling into a trap. But in their case, they went for it. The bait was simply too valuable for them to pass up. What could you have used?" Ranpo explained as Chuuya smirked.

"No matter what country you're in, being in nature really soothes the soul." John said as he sat on the grass, looking at a map with Lovecraft standing beside him. "Alright, it looks like the Port Mafia's gift is straight ahead."

"Why are we doing this when it's obviously a trap to lure us out?" Lovecraft asked flatly.

"It was too juicy to pass up. If we succeed in the abduction, we'll have won against the agency." John responded as they looked ahead.

Naomi and Haruno gushed together about pictures of Haruno's cat on the laptop screen, unbeknownst to the danger they're in.

"You used our office staff as bait?!" Fukuzawa asked in horror into the laptop.

"You can still get them out of there in time." Chuuya answered. "Plus the Guild has no idea you're about to make a move. It'll be an easy win."

Fukuzawa looks back at Ranpo, "Ranpo, does everything he just said check out?"

"It does, unfortunately. Times like these are when the truth is most effective." Ranpo answered.

Chuuya chucked, "Even if they know it's a pitfall, the agency will still right into it. The boss was right about that."

"Order the office staff to evacuate immediately." Fukuzawa told Ranpo, "and also, get me Kunikida."

After being saved from John and Lovecraft by Junichiro and Kunikida, Naomi and Haruno managed to get away by getting onto the back of an ongoing train. They managed to get away safely.
