Volume 2; Chap 3.1

Q stood there as his doll shook in the air, laughing. Atsushi stood his ground and stood in front of you, Naomi, and Haruno, extending his arms in front of you all in defense.

The doll laughed as it ripped itself in half by the head. Atsushi tensed as Haruno stood behind him, her eyes red as tears of blood spilled from her eyes. Before he could react, Haruno grabbed Atsushi by the neck and held him up in the air.

"Better act fast if you don't wanna die!" Q advised with a smile.

Atsushi looked down at Haruno as his vision became blurry. He activated his ability, breaking out of Haruno's grip with his tiger arms.he raised his hand before hitting her on the back of the head, knocking her forward. Haruno fell forward to the ground as Atsushi looked at Naomi beside him, with the
same look as Haruno.

"Q's curse induces hallucinations. Causing his enemies to attack those around them indiscriminately. The curse is activated only when Q's doll has been mutilated." Dazai explained. "Even when this event is triggered, only a designated receiver is affected. In order to be targeted by Q, that person has to hurt him. You can tell who a receiver is by the bruise-like mark on their body, similar to being grabbed or strangled."

Dazai paused before asking, "You..mentioned before that you came here to protect me.."

Higuchi remained silent, her gaze speaking volumes.

There was a pause before Dazai's eyes widened. He looked back towards where he entered the warehouse, "Damn it!"

You watched in horror as Atsushi held Naomi up in the air by the neck. You looked at Haruno and back at Atsushi. You were stuck between going to help Haruno or stopping Atsushi.

You clenched your fists before raising your foot slightly and stepping forward, making a trail of ice towards Atsushi. The ice moved towards him before crawling up his feet and encasing his body in ice. He dropped Naomi and looked down at the ice crawling up his chest and arms.

Atsushi had his eyes wide and tears of blood coming from his eyes. He used his ability by turning his legs into tiger feet, making your ice shatter and setting him free.

Before you could attack again he came at you and held you up in the air by your neck, just as he was doing to Naomi. You gasped for air as you gripped his tiger hands around your neck, trying to loosen his grip.

Dazai ran across the train track and onto the cement, in a crouched position, "Listen to me, Atsushi! Look carefully!"

Atsushi heard his voice and his breath hitched as he looked up at you more closely.

"A-Atsushi...let go..." you said as you tried gasping for air.

A few feet away, lay Haruno, holding the back of her head as she trembled and tears fell from her eyes. Her glasses knocked in front of her.

Atsushi dropped you and took a few steps back. You fell to the ground and held your hand to your neck as you gasped for air, finally being able to breathe.

"All I wanted to do was to protect everyone..." Atsushi mumbled. He gasped and began muttering as if he was hallucinating, "No...I could change, I swear...I just wanna save my friends..!"

Dazai looked at him before looking around. He looked under a bench and found the doll that had a rip going down its head.

"STOP ITTTTT!" Atsushi shouted as he gripped his head and hunched down, kneeling on the ground.
