As Rouge led the group away from Mephiles, with Knuckles keeping a watchful eye out for danger. They journeyed through the snow covered island before bumping into McTara, Simeon, Arien, and Ricardo.

They continue their journey before they come across the scientist's base. An old and abandoned G.U.N. research center.

Seeing it was heavily guarded by humanoid robots, the team devised a plan, with their number, they divided themselves into smaller groups, to infiltrate the building and cover more ground, while being cautious of the dangerous beings that reside in the building.

Rain paced back and forth in the cramped, dimly lit cell, her royal blue eyes blazing with a mixture of fury and desperation. Her brown fur, once sleek and well-groomed, now hung dull and matted, with visible patches of bare skin underneath.

Her movements were stiff and jerky, as if her muscles were no longer fully under her control.

She was supposed to be at work, leading Team E.C.H.O. or at the Hospital scolding Fleetway for being hardheaded or at home with her husband and kids, or on an outing with her best friends.

How did she end up here? Infected. Alone. Cold. And slowly losing herself.

She let out a sad howl, hoping somebody would come save her soon.

WITH ROUGE'S TEAM

"Did you guys hear that?" Rouge asked, her ears twitching as they walked through the reception area, filled with old furniture and broken equipment.

"That sounds really nearby." Miles said as his ears perked up.

"They sound so in distress." Arien says, as a hybrid of a Fox and Wolf, he could feel the emotion in the howl.

"Because they are in distress, dumbass." Ricardo rolled his eyes.

"I hate you." Arien glared at his best friend.

Rouge glared at them. Even though they were older, they were still immature.

Knuckles stopped when he saw something move in a room they passed. Miles paused beside him.

"What is it..?" He asked, his ear twitching while his twin tails stopped their movement.

"I saw something move." Knuckles' eyes narrowed as he walked towards the room, Rouge was quick to stop him.

"You open the door, I'll be ready in case it's one of those." Rouge said. Knuckles nodded. Silver, Arien, and Ricardo watched their surroundings in case something else appears.

Then they heard it.

Rustling and a baby's cry inside the room.

Knuckles forced the door open and saw multiple cribs in the middle of the room.

Silver pointed his flashlight inside the room and his eyes scanned to where it was coming from, and saw had tiny furry arms waving out of one of the cribs, he used his Telekinesis to move it closer as Rouge pointed her pistol inside the room watching for any other sign of movement, she saw a surveillance camera in the corner of the room, it wasn't recording but just to be sure, she shot towards it. The sound of the gunshot echoing through the halls, as the camera exploded in a shower of sparks.

They looked into the crib, there was a baby Arctic Hare, it had white fur, long cute ears, and big blue eyes. She looked like between 6-8 weeks old.

Sonic carefully lifted the baby out of the crib.
