Jungkook had it bad.
Everyone in the office knew it. Everyone except, apparently, Jimin.
Jungkook wasn't exactly subtle. He stole glances during meetings, his eyes lingering just a second too long on Jimin's lips as he spoke. He memorized Jimin's coffee order down to the precise half-pump of caramel syrup in his unsweetened soya milk latte and volunteered to grab it every morning, as if he just happened to be heading to the café anyway. He always found excuses to be at Jimin's desk - asking about reports he already had, borrowing pens he never returned, pretending to need help with things he could easily Google.
And Jimin? Jimin was no better.
Every time Jungkook so much as greeted him, his ears burned red. His voice pitched an octave higher whenever they made eye contact, and sometimes, when Jungkook laughed at something he said, he would freeze, as if his brain had short-circuited.
The tension was unbearable. Their coworkers had had enough.
**
"We need to do something before Jungkook combusts" Taehyung muttered, watching as Jungkook once again stared dreamily at Jimin while pretending to staple papers that didn't need stapling. He hadn't even loaded the stapler.
"Or before Jimin's blush permanently stains his face" Namjoon added.
Yoongi, who had been silently observing the mess unfold for months, finally spoke up. "If those two don't get together soon, I'm putting in a noise complaint. The amount of dramatic sighing coming from Jungkook's desk is unreal."
And so, Operation Valentine's Day was born.
**
Jungkook was doomed.
At least, that's what he decided after spending the past fifteen minutes staring at Jimin from across the office, trying and failing to work up the courage to say something - anything - that wasn't a shaky "Good morning" or an overenthusiastic "Nice weather today, huh?"
It was pathetic.
So pathetic, in fact, that Taehyung and Hoseok had finally cornered him in the break room.
"You need to make a move" Taehyung declared, stirring his iced coffee with unnecessary aggression.
"A real move" Hoseok added, arms crossed.
Jungkook sighed, rubbing his hands over his face. "I know, okay? But what if..."
Taehyung immediately held up a hand. "Nope. No 'what ifs.' We're done with those."
Hoseok nodded sagely. "You've been pining so hard that it's physically painful to witness. If secondhand embarrassment were a sport, we would be Olympic champions by now."
Jungkook hesitated, chewing his lip. He wanted to make a move. He really did. But the idea of putting his feelings out there was terrifying. What if Jimin didn't like him back? What if he just saw Jungkook as a friend?
"Okay" Taehyung said, placing a dramatic hand on Jungkook's shoulder. "Here's what you're going to do. You're going to give him something romantic. But subtle. Like a love letter..."
"Too risky" Jungkook mumbled.
"Or chocolates...."
"Too obvious" Jungkook countered.
Hoseok snapped his fingers. "A flower."
Jungkook blinked.
Taehyung grinned. "A flower is perfect. It's sweet but not over the top. Mysterious but not creepy. And if he reacts well, you'll know he's interested."
