I leaned against the window, watching the city lights blur as the van sped through the streets. The night was quiet, save for the low murmur of voices inside. The weight of my presence was enough to keep them all subdued—no one dared speak out of turn when I was around.

Takemichi Hanagaki sat across from me, wrists bound, his breathing uneven. He wasn’t shaking, not yet, but I could see the tension in his shoulders. He was trying to act brave. Typical.

I tilted my head, studying him. "You’re surprisingly calm," I mused, my voice smooth, deliberate. "Most people would be begging by now."

He met my gaze, eyes burning with defiance. "I know exactly why I’m here," he said, voice steady. "You think using me will break Mikey. And you’re right."

That made me pause.

Takemichi exhaled sharply, his lips pressing into a thin line. "I know what I am to him. His weakness. But that also makes me something else—you won’t break him as easily as you think."

A slow smile curled my lips. "Oh, but I will."

Takemichi didn’t understand. Mikey wasn’t invincible. He wasn’t untouchable. He had weaknesses—weaknesses like the pathetic, loyal fool sitting in front of me.

I reached out, gripping his chin between my fingers, forcing him to hold my stare. "You think knowing the truth changes anything?" I chuckled, shaking my head. "Awareness doesn’t make you any less of a pawn, Hanagaki. It just means you’ll suffer more."

He jerked his head away, glaring. "Mikey won’t let you get away with this."

I leaned back, unbothered. "That’s exactly what I’m counting on."

The van slowed, pulling into a secluded area. The others moved quickly, yanking Takemichi to his feet. He struggled, but it was useless. He was already mine.

As the door slid open, the cold night air rushed in. I stepped out first, taking a deep breath. The scent of the ocean mixed with the city’s filth.

Perfect.

I turned back to him, smirking. "Welcome to hell, Takemichi. I hope you’re ready to watch everything you love burn."

---

I watched as Takemichi was dragged forward, his head hanging low, his expression unreadable. For someone so weak, so fragile-looking, he had an irritating resilience.

That was fine. I’d break that soon enough.

We reached an abandoned warehouse near the docks. A perfect hiding place. Far from prying eyes, just enough noise from the crashing waves to drown out any sounds of struggle.

My men forced him into a chair, tying him down. He didn’t fight back this time. Instead, he stared at the floor, deep in thought.

"Cat got your tongue, Hanagaki?" I mocked, stepping closer.

He finally looked up at me, his blue eyes filled with something I couldn’t quite place. Not fear. Not anger. Something else.

"Why are you doing this, Izana?" he asked, voice quieter than before. "This isn’t about power, is it?"

I narrowed my eyes, irritation bubbling beneath my skin. "You think you understand me?" I scoffed. "You don’t know anything."

He exhaled slowly, shaking his head. "I know that this isn’t just about Mikey. You’re not just trying to take over—you want to destroy him completely. You want him to feel the way you felt. Alone. Betrayed. Abandoned."

My jaw clenched.

He wasn’t wrong.

Mikey had everything. A family. Friends. Loyalty. Things I was robbed of. And now, I would take it all away from him.

Takemichi continued, his gaze unwavering. "You’re doing this because you want him to suffer like you did. But Izana, I’ve seen people go down this path before. Revenge doesn’t make the pain go away. It just creates more of it."

I let out a humorless laugh, gripping his collar and yanking him forward. "You think I care about pain?" I hissed. "Mikey took everything from me. Now, I’ll take everything from him. And you—" I smirked, eyes dark with amusement. "You’re just the beginning."

Takemichi didn’t flinch. His calmness was starting to annoy me.

"You won’t win," he said simply. "Even if you hurt me, even if you break Mikey, you won’t win. Because deep down, you don’t even know what victory looks like anymore."

My grip tightened before I finally shoved him back into the chair. I turned away, jaw tight, fists clenched.

"Lock him up," I ordered my men. "Make sure he doesn’t get any ideas."

As they dragged him away, I stood in the dimly lit warehouse, his words echoing in my head.

I didn’t care what he thought.

This was already set in motion. And there was nothing he—or Mikey—could do to stop it.

---

The night stretched on, the room dimly lit by a single flickering bulb. I stood near the window, gazing at the dark waves beyond the docks. The weight of everything pressed against my chest, but I refused to acknowledge it.

Behind me, Takemichi shifted in his restraints. He was still awake, watching me.

Then, he spoke. "You had my family, didn’t you? They adopted you, right?"

I froze.

My hands curled into fists, nails digging into my palms. I didn’t turn around. I didn’t answer.

Takemichi sighed. "So why? Why do you hate them? Why don’t you consider them family? My father… he took you in. He gave you a home. So why, Izana?"

His voice was filled with something almost like pity. It made my blood boil.

I exhaled slowly, forcing myself to stay calm. "Shut up, Hanagaki."

Takemichi didn’t push further, but I knew he wouldn’t stop thinking about it. And that was fine. Let him wonder. Let him question.

He would never understand.

Because to me, the Hanagakis were never family.

They were just another thing I had to destroy.
