I pushed the door open, stepping into the dimly lit beach house. The second I did, all heads turned toward me.
“Mierda!” Chifuyu flinched, nearly knocking over a glass. Yza actually gasped, and Draken shot me a glare.
“You tryna give us a heart attack, Baji?” he snapped.
I ignored him, shaking off the night air. "Kazutora’s on the first flight out," I announced, my voice steady despite the tension crackling in the room. "He’s bringing everything we might need."
Mikey finally looked up from where he sat on the couch, elbows on his knees, fingers clenched and unclenched like he was barely holding something back. His eyes were shadowed, unreadable.
"That’s good," he muttered. Then, in a sharper tone, "Because we’re not waiting around."
Draken scoffed, arms crossed. "We don’t have a location yet. Rushing in blind could make things worse."
Mikey’s gaze snapped to him. "And doing nothing is worse. Takemichi doesn’t have time. You know Izana—he won’t keep him alive just for fun. He’s making a point."
Silence. No one wanted to admit it, but Mikey was right. If Izana had Takemichi, it meant he was already making his next move.
I exhaled sharply, looking at Chifuyu. "Did we get anything else from the witness? Any other details?"
Chifuyu shook his head. "Just that he was taken near the old pier. The van had no plates. No other markings."
Mikey clicked his tongue in frustration, then suddenly stood up. "Then we start there."
"What?" Yza’s eyes widened. "We can’t just—"
"We don’t have a choice." Mikey’s voice cut through the room, sharp and final. "We go to the pier. We ask around. Someone had to have seen something. If Izana’s men are here, there’s a chance we can find them before they disappear."
Draken groaned, rubbing his temple. "Mikey, we need to think this through. If we go now—"
"I’m not waiting, Draken." His voice was quieter this time, but filled with something dangerous. "If it were you, if it were me, Takemichi wouldn’t wait. He’d already be out there looking."
That shut everyone up.
Because we all knew it was true.
I watched as Mikey’s fists clenched. His voice was tight when he spoke again. "Takemichi has always been there for us. He never gave up on me. And I’ll be damned if I give up on him."
The weight of his words settled over the room.
I smirked. "Well, I wasn’t planning on getting any sleep anyway."
Chifuyu let out a chuckle, shaking his head. "Guess we better get moving then."
Draken sighed, shaking his head, but there was a ghost of a smile on his face. "You’re gonna get us all killed one day, Mikey."
Mikey smirked back. "Not today."
Yza sighed, standing up. "Fine. But we do this smart, okay? No reckless moves."
Mikey nodded. "Let’s go."
We grabbed whatever we could—hoodies, knives, even a baseball bat I found lying around. It wasn’t much, but it was something.
And as we stepped into the night, one thing was clear.
We were bringing Takemichi home—no matter what it took.

-Izana POV
I sat in the dimly lit room, fingers tapping idly against the armrest of my chair. The silence was comforting, almost peaceful, if not for the low murmurs of my men stationed outside.
Then came the sound of approaching footsteps.
The door creaked open, and walked a group of sharply dressed individuals—Takemichi’s so-called family. They carried themselves with confidence, entitlement, the kind that made my skin crawl.
One of them, an older man with graying hair and a self-satisfied smirk, stepped forward. He looked me over like he was sizing up a prized possession.
"You did well, Izana," he said, his voice smooth, calculated. "Takemichi is finally where he belongs—out of the way."
I didn't respond immediately. Instead, I leaned back, letting the weight of his words settle in the air.
Good job.
That’s all they had to say?
Not that it mattered. I never did this for their approval.
Another relative, a younger woman with piercing eyes, chimed in. "With Takemichi gone, there’s no one left to challenge what belongs to us. You’ve secured everything perfectly."
A scoff threatened to escape me, but I swallowed it down. Perfectly? They thought this was about some petty inheritance? How shallow. How small-minded.
I tilted my head, studying their expectant faces. They truly believed they were the masterminds here, that I was merely their weapon.
Fools.
But I let them think about it.
"It wasn’t difficult," I said smoothly, keeping my tone indifferent. "Takemichi was never a fighter."
The older man chuckled. "Exactly. And now, we move forward. With Mikey weakened and Takemichi eliminated, there’s nothing left to stop us."
I hummed in response, though my mind was elsewhere.
Takemichi... eliminated?
Not yet. Not yet.
One of them patted my shoulder. "You’ve done your part. Just sit back and enjoy the rewards."
I gave them a slow, deliberate smile.
Sit back?
They really didn’t understand me at all.
Once they left, I turned my gaze to the shadows at the corner of the room. "Report."
A figure emerged, one of my men, head bowed in respect. "Takemichi is still holding on. He hasn’t broken."
Of course, he hasn’t.
I clenched my jaw, irritation flickering beneath my calm exterior.
Takemichi Hanagaki—so weak, yet so stubborn.
"Increase the pressure," I ordered. "Make sure he knows there’s no escape. But don’t break him too soon."
The man nodded and disappeared back into the darkness.
Leaning forward, I exhaled slowly.
Takemichi was more than just a tool to hurt Mikey. More than an obstacle to these foolish relatives.
He was a test.
And I was going to see just how far he could bend before he snapped.
But as I sat there, a small, nagging thought refused to leave me.
I knew, deep down, I would never actually kill him.
Because Mikey... Mikey wouldn’t forgive me.
That alone should have been reason enough, but there was something else—a thought creeping at the edges of my mind, something I hadn’t let myself acknowledge yet.
Why had Shinichiro never taken me in?
The answer was there, just out of reach.
And for the first time in a long while, I felt something close to fear.
