I remember hearing the deafening shriek of sirens. Bright colours blurred through the tears in my eyes. I felt firm arms holding me and pulling me away from Jackson, I wouldn't let them take him away.
" Sweet heart i'm Nathan. Can you tell me what happened to your friend?"
It took my a while to make sense of the words until I finally looked up at him. "We went swimming." A slight smile crept onto my face but soon left . " is he-" I couldn't get the words out without disappearing into a puddle of tears, " dead?" The word came out as a hushed whisper."Let's get you inside the ambulance okay? We need to make sure your alright."
They were ignoring the subject. I knew there and then that he was gone. I couldn't deal with the pain. Not again. They lifted him into the ambulance. It didn't look like his chest was moving. I was placed in a little chair which was rather uncomfortable. Numbers were being shouted out from everywhere and a mask had been put over his face. I felt like dying.
His eyes opens reluctantly.
" Fi-" before he could finish I had hushed him.
" Don't speak. I'm here."I took his icy hand and held it close to my chest,
"I'm here."
