June's POV

I finished my Nutella sandwich and licked each of my fingers clean. I gulped down my milk. Angie came downstairs in her red Minnie mouse pajamas, rubbing her eyes. "Hey is Mum dropping you off at school today?" I shook my head, "No Mum just left this morning for her tennis match." "Oh." I walked over to the door and slid my backpack on. I turned to face her. "I have to leave right now." She grabbed my arm, "Wait where are you going?" I turned to look at her. "Nick's picking me up and bringing me to the school." "Umm... can he give me a ride to school?" She asked me with pleading eyes. I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't think Nick will mind." She let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks June." She ran upstairs to go wash up. When she was gone, I pulled out my cell phone and texted Nick.

Me: "Hey my sister asked me if she could tag along with us on the ride to school. Can you take her?

Nick: Sure I guess.

Me: Thanks.

I heard my sister come downstairs. I looked up. She was wearing her swirly purple shirt, her boot legged jeans and white Nike shoes. "Are you ready?" I asked. "Yeah I just need to get my backpack" she said and walked into the closet. She checked herself in the mirror. "Ok let's go " she said. I locked the door with my house key and turned to face the black sports car I knew so well. Nick poked his head out of the window. "June and June's sister come on!" He yelled. I looked at him. "Ok ok we're coming." I swung my backpack over my shoulder. Angie and I hustled to his car. Angie sat in the back of the car and I sat next to Nick. When Angie looked out the window, Nick leaned in and whispered in my ear. "Can't your sister drive or something?" I checked if Angie was still facing the window. She was. I leaned in and whispered back to Nick. "She does usually but a couple of weeks ago my mum grounded her from driving her car."
Nick nodded his head and turned to look at Angie. He stepped on the gas pedal and we drove off. "Hey what's your name?" Nick asked my sister. "Angie" she answered without looking up at her phone. "Cool" he said. She put her phone down on her lap and looked at Nick. "So Nick why did you choose June to be your girlfriend?" Nick's shoulders stiffened and he looked my way. Asking for my help. I mouthed you can say whatever. Nick nodded and spoke. "I chose her because she's funny, smart, kind, strong and beautiful." He's a good liar. "What did you see in her that you didn't see in other girls?" Angie asked. "She's a girl who likes and knows how to have fun" Nick said. Angie bit her lip and thought for a while. She looked up. "But June's a nerd aren't you afraid she'll bring your popularity down?" He shook his head and smiled. "No I'm not afraid because being popular in school isn't going to last forever." Angie nodded her head. Nick turned into the school parking lot and got out of the car. Angie and I got out and we caught up with Nick. I walked next to Nick and grabbed his hand. The tip of Nick's ears turned red. His hand locked with mine and we swung our hands while walking. I heard Angie giggle when she saw our hands. Angie walked behind us until she saw Sophia and Amanda getting out of their white convertible. She caught up with them and the girls chatted happily. When they were out of sight Nick looked at me. "Angie's friends with Sophia and Amanda?" I sighed. "Yeah sometimes they're over my house and I'm bullied by them when my Mum's not around." "That's sucks June" he said. I shrugged my shoulders. Nick hummed a little until we stopped at the classroom door. Nick opened the door and I followed him in. I sat down in my seat and pulled out my phone. Nick sat down next to me. The bell rang and Mr.Parker came into the room. "Good morning class today we will be doing pottery, all the clay is in the bucket. Grab as much clay as you want just make sure to use it all. Make sure to set your clay on a pottery spinning wheel. But first I would like you all to grab an apron hanging at the far right corner." He said pointing at the aprons. Everyone got up and grabbed an apron. I slipped my apron on and tied my thick blonde hair into a ponytail. I rolled my sleeves up and grabbed the brown sticky clay. I put the clay on the wheel. Nick walked in my direction with a huge chunk of clay in his hands. He plopped in the seat next to me. He began to play with it for a while. "Eww this is gross!" Sophia whined and put the clay on the wheel. She shook her hands and tried to wipe them on her apron but Mr. Parker cleared his throat and looked at Sophia. Sophia put her hands down on the wheel. I muffled a laugh. Mr. Parker then spoke. "I want you all to sculp the clay into a vase or a bowl using your hands and the wheel. Keep your hands in a steady position when spinning it ..." I ignored the rest of his instructions and looked at the clay. I didn't need to listen to him anymore. I knew how use a pottery wheel and make a vase. It was simple because I've done it before. I have my own pottery wheel and I use it quiet often at home. Anything was simple if you loved doing it. I heard people beginning to talk. I steadied my hands on the clay and pushed down on the wheel's pedal. It started to spin. I skillfully let the clay form into a vase. I let my hands freely move around the clay making it into a smooth vase. I hit the wheel's break making the wheel slow down. I picked up the vase and walked over the table. I used a black sharpie and wrote my initials on the wax paper. I saw Mr.Parker looking at my vase. His brown eyes met mine. He nodded his head approvingly and I smiled back. I walked back to my seat and I saw Nick having trouble. "What the hell?" he said sounding angry. I walked over to him and sat next to him. "Nick do you need help?" He looked up at me. "How'd you get done so fast?"  "I have a pottery wheel at home and I've made tons of vases." "Oh well that explains it" he said. I nodded and looked at his uneven vase. "Your vase looks good" I lied. He shook his head. "This...." he gestured with his hand, "is a piece of shit." I laughed at his troubled expression. "Do you need help?" I asked. "Yeah" he said. "Ok put your hands on the clay" I instructed. He put his hand on it. "Good now lightly step on the wheel's pedal" I said. He did that and I quietly got behind him. I lightly put my hands on his. His body stiffened. I didn't notice until my chest was leaning against his back. I blushed a little. Stupid hormones I thought to myself. I cleared my throat. "You're doing good now make sure to cup your hands so you can form a good shape" I said. My hands were on top of his and it turned into its tall and skinny shape. I slowly removed my hands from his. He looked up at me and smiled. "Thanks." I waved my hand and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear. "No problem." The bell rang and everyone left. Nick and I left and walked to the cafateria. I saw Jared, Brady, Stephanie and Sarah already talking. We sat down next to each other. Brady's eyes looked at my hands and then at me. He frowned. "Why are your hands dirty?" I looked down at my hands and saw them still brown. The clay started to dry up. "Nick and I were working with clay today" I said. "Oh that makes sense" he said. "I'm going to the restroom. I'll be back in a second" Nick said. Nick got up and left the table. I quickly caught up with Nick. "Hey Nick do you want to hang out tonight?" He looked at me. "As like just you and me?" "No with Sarah, Stephanie, Jared and Brady" I said. He looked at me for a long time and said, "I'll be there but I might arrive a little late." He entered the boy's restroom. I went into the restroom and I came out a few minutes later. I walked back the table and smiled. I sat next to Sarah and Stephanie. Stephanie and Sarah were gossiping about Sophia, Amanda and my sister. I looked to see what the guys were doing. The guys were speaking in a low voice making sure no one heard them. Nick frowned as Jared was talking. Brady nodded his head a couple of times at Nick. Jared stroked his chin as Nick was talking to him. I cleared my throat and spoke. "Hey guys do you want to hang out tonight?" Brady and Jared looked at each other then back at me. "We'll be late but yeah will be there."What time do we come over?" Jared asked. "Around 7:00pm" I said. "Okay where is it?" Brady asked. "The neighborhood is 506 Hazelwood Dr." I said. The boys nodded and typed it in their phones. "Can we go with you after school?" Stephanie asked. "Sure" I said. The girls smiled at me. The bell rang telling it was time to leave. I got up and saw Nick catching up to me. "June I have to go deal with something later tonight at the fighting area." "Okay I'll see you later then I have to get to my next class" I said and waved good bye. I dashed into my next class just a minute before the bell rang. I breathed a sigh of relief and sat down in my seat. I began writing the next warm - up in my spiral.
