Smut Warning: The beginning of the smut will be marked with a and the end will be marked with a . I know most of you dirty kiddies won't be skipping it but for you few mentally chaste young angels here you go.

"You expect me to sleep in this pile of filth?!"

Levi's angry roar could no doubt be heard by the entire city. After his episode earlier with Erwin Hanji had escorted us to the basement where Levi and I were to sleep and then locked us inside. We weren't allowed to leave until Erwin summoned us to begin planning for the mission.

The place reminded me of a prison cell. Iron walls and floors formed the tiny room. Two thin beds were pressed against either wall with only about a yard between them. Other than that the room was sparse.

"When was this damn place last cleaned? I can't be expected to stay holed up in this cell for another minute, let alone until dinner!" Levi snarled, loosening his tie around his neck as he paced the floor in front of where I sat on my bed. I couldn't tell if he was yelling at me, Hanji, Erwin, himself, or all four.

"Levi-" I started but he didn't let me finish.

"I've been a member of this god forsaken gang for twelve years dammit, I deserve better than this!" He growled as he flopped onto his bed across from mine, "Is he punishing me for kicking his sorry ass? Because he had it coming."

"Maybe he's just being cautious?" I suggested, "I mean for all he knows we could be double crossing him and sending his men into a trap. He might just want to keep an eye on us."

He shot me with a menacing glare but didn't answer. I couldn't tell exactly what was going through his mind but he looked awfully conflicted.

"I mean that's just one option," I added hurriedly, "For all we know he could have other motives, he is a gang leader after all."

His face relaxed a touch as he registered what I said, "Perhaps you're right, what a change in roles today," he laughed, "This time I've been the over-emotional brat who can't control their anger and you've been the one to cool me down." He sighed and leaned his head back against the wall, "I need to smoke."

I laughed, "Smoking's not healthy you know."

"I'm not a damned fool," he snapped, "I know that I'm killing myself but frankly I'm too addicted to nicotine to care."

I knitted my brows together with concern, "What about the people who love you? I'm sure they want you to live." I want you to live.

He chuckled darkly, "Luckily I don't have to worry about that."

"Why not?"

Levi pulled his knees up to his chest, loosely draping his arms around them, and rested his chin against one knee. "Because," he hesitated, "There's no one out there who loves me."

"That's not true," I protested?, "What about Hanji?" What about me?

"She only acts like my friend so she can keep an eye on me for Erwin. I don't think Hanji's actually capable of truly loving anyone. Science trumps everything else in her life." Levi looked at me from beneath his thick dark lashes. My breath caught in my throat, I'd never seen him look so... Vulnerable. The way he sat curled in a ball gave the grown man an almost childlike appearance. He'd tossed his black, leather dress shoes on the floor. His shirt was no longer tucked in and his forest green tie hung loosely around his neck. The top two buttons of his collar were undone, exposing the milky white skin at the base of his throat.
