The clanging sound of the school bell rang throughout the halls, announcing the start of school. Students rushed about, laughing and greeting one another as they made their way to their first hour classes.

The world outside was crisp with the fresh autumn air and newly reddened leaves scattered the pavement and grass and clinging to the bottom of shoes. The dewy smell of morning hung in the air inside of the school as well as outside though not as intense.

The first day of school was always the hardest in my opinion, I never knew what to do. You'd think if have it down by my junior year but my scattered brain seemed to clear itself out every year leaving me as dazed as a freshman. I frantically looked around trying to find my class or at least a familiar face. I couldn't be late, lord knows I didn't want my teacher's first impression of me to be a bad one.

The hallways had become empty as students filed into their classes leaving me lost in their fray. The forrest green lockers glimmered, reflecting the light that shone from the tall windows that lined the walls parallel to them.

Armin promised to meet me, where the hell is he? I thought to myself, slowly becoming more and more panicked. Armin had been my best friend since we were very little and he knew how prone I was to getting lost. I was often sidetracked so my focus was rarely on finding my way.

My thoughts were quickly interrupted by the ringing of the second bell. The sound echoed loudly against the lockers resulting in a grated painful sound.

Shit, what a way to start off the year.

"Good morning Class, My name is Mr. Ackerman and I will be your Algebra II teacher this year." I etched my name on the blackboard in a curvy script and turned to face the class. Students were whispering and laughing among one another, completely disregarding my authority.

Wonderful. A bunch of smart asses. There was always at least one class like this but why did it have to be the first one of the day?

My eyes moved slowly around the room of squirming maggots, assessing their behaviors to see who I'd no doubt have in my detention later.

"Alright Brats," I glared at them, crossing my arms over my chest. "Before we start our year off badly let's get one thing straight. I won't tolerate any shit from you lot so don't get any ideas. I'm not going to give you all another warning so I recommend you shut up and pay attention."

The students shut up immediately. I smirked at their complacency. Typical, quick to disregarded until I get on them about it, "Now as I was saying-"

At that moment the door flew open and a tall boy with shaggy brown hair burst in, breathing heavily as if he'd just run a marathon. He gripped the doorframe with a fierce determination.

"I'm sorry sir!" he panted, "I got lost on my way here and I-"

Levi cut him off mid sentence, "Don't give me some lousy excuse. What's your name kid?"

"Eren Jaeger sir." He answered.

"Well Eren Jaeger congratulations, you've officially made my shit list. Why don't you take a seat before you piss me off even more than you already have."

"I- yes sir." Eren sighed as he took the empty seat beside a wimpy looking blond kid.

"Alright then class, let's go over the rules."
