For those of you who haven't witnessed or participated in a wrestling tournament,
it's quite a sight.

The match before everything could have gone right,
but this time you weren't focused enough.
Your mind was in a different place,
So much so it seemed like outer space.

After this match you watched the winner be praised,
while all along you were only dazed,
you'll walk off the mat with your head held high,
when deeply you felt the need to cry.

The stands hold the most challenging places.
Your team tells you that your bases weren't strong enough,
and you can see the disappointment on their faces.

You plan to prove them wrong.

The next round you were stronger than before,
you want to be the few that are adored.

As you warm up a wave of anxiety hits,
but by then you are already on the mat and are ready to see what your opponent permits.

After the match your hand is raised,
your challenger's eyes seem glazed.

You head to the stands walking tall,
But your team doesn't seem to notice you at all.

Author's note: I don't know, I tried to rhyme, not sure if I'll do it again.
