When Grace woke up, there was some movement coming from downstairs. She saw Jenna and Alaric downstairs talking. She decided to eavesdrop.

"So, why does Grace act like she does?" Alaric says

"Her parents died. I mean, come on, it's not easy to get over your parents dying. When it's one of them, it's a little easier, but both? No. Not happening with Grace. Grace took it the hardest when her parents died. She moved off the England with her friend Samantha because of it." Jenna says

"Oh. Well, I'll talk to her." He says

"Ok. I have to go take a shower, so, can you make sure the breakfast doesn't burn?" Jenna asks

Alaric nods. Grace acts as if she was just walking in. She stretches and yawns while rubbing her eyes. Alaric's eyes widen as Grace's shirt had gone up while she was stretching. Grace realizes this and blushes.

"Uh, hi." She says going to get coffee

"Hi." He says

She gets the milk from the fridge with the French vanilla coffee creamer and puts it in her coffee. She stirs them up and then adds sugar. She turns around and looks at Alaric as he watches her intently. She blushes more.

"So, why were you so grumpy yesterday?" She asks sitting down next to him at the table.

They are close to each other. He inhales a sharp breath.

"Umm. I wasn't." He says

"Really? I could either compel you to tell me, or I could tease you until you tell me." She says smirking.

"I'd rather go with neither." He says

"Ok. Compel it is." She says and looks straight into his eyes

"Why were you so grumpy yesterday?" She asks

"I think I like you. A lot. When Damon said you were a vampire, it crushed me because I thought we could grow old together, have a family together. But we can't because your a vampire." He says dully.

"Wow. You really thought that?" She asks as she uncompels him.

"Yeah. I did. I really like you but nothing can happen. One, your my student, two, your a vampire, and three. I want kids. I want a family. But I can't do that with you because vampires can't procreate." Alaric says softly

"Well, we could always ignore the fact I'm your student. We could try to have a relationship, and if anything goes farther, like, we were to get married, we could get a surrogate or adopt." Grace says to Alaric

"Really? I'd love to try." He says and leans in to Grace to kiss her

Before he can, Grace hears Jenna coming down the steps. She quickly kisses his lips and moves to a different chair so Jenna doesn't suspect anything.

"So, did you two stay civil?" Jenna asks

"Eh. I don't know what civil is." Grace says fake glaring at Alaric.

"Grace Ann Gilbert. You be nice." Jenna says putting a plate of pancakes in front of Grace.

Grace laughs and eats her food. Jenna gives Alaric some pancakes. When Grace finishes eating, she goes upstairs to get ready for school.
