• REILLY's POV••

Aidan entered the stables just as Gerard left but not before sparing a glance over his head. I didn't know what he and his father were going to talk about but for some reason, I thought it would be about me. I know that it wasn't any of my concern but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was up.

"Hi baby girl, forgive me I forgot your name." Aidan confessed blushing in embarrassment.

"Reilly," I replied just as she crouched down beside me.

"Ah Reilly, such a pretty name for a beautiful girl no?" I chuckled at the suggestion which marinated in her thick accent.

"Not as beautiful as you I fear," I beamed suggestively. I watched as her dark hair glistened despite the scarcity of light within the stall. Using a shovel, I scooped up the excrement which no longer smelt as bad due to Gerard's suggestion that I cover it with some hay to cut the stench a bit.

I deposited the contents in the pale he'd fetched prior to his mother's presence. A clap registered in the air startling me a bit before I turned to see Aidan chuckling to herself only to see her captivating smile falter at my expression.

"Lo siento, you are such a sweet heart. Where did you meet Gerardi, if you don't mind?" She scooped up some of the hay with a pitch folk depositing it over more excrement in my aid smiling as she did so.

"Mmm ... We - ah - met in a diner. Mmm ... Ruby's to be specific." I looked up from my work to see her watching me in amusement. "I'm a waitress there."

"Si? I've always troubled Gerard to go dine there but he loves homemade food." I looked at her a bit confused in that moment. Gerard had been to Ruby's more times than I could physically count so it came as a surprise when she said loved homemade cuisine. Well the few times he'd been there I've never actually seen him eat anything so what purpose could he have to visit the diner?

"Oh ... you misunderstand. I meant my husband not Junior. " Aidan chuckled.

Aidan was as friendly as women came not withstanding that she was a force to be reckoned with. She was by no means a pushover as I'd had the privilege of seeing first hand when she spoke to Gerard that day we'd met. She may be vertically challenged as I found myself to be but she made up for it with her native tongue as well as her other attributes.

"How about we go get something to eat?" I chuckled at her suggestion as memory surfaced of Gerard Jr. had asking me the same and my response.

"Ok," I smiled glad that she would appreciate my company.

I knew already that I liked her. Next to Ruby and Olivia with the exception of Gerard's sisters, Aidan was the nicest a woman had ever regarded me. I admitted that before when I saw her I had been a tad bit intimidated by her but now it was the reverse.

It was no shocker that people, and by extension guys, think that beautiful women are docile in someway. I worked at Ruby's and though I wasn't versed in the language and characteristics of the opposite sex, I was well aware of their mannerisms towards such women.

Aidan, however, was a testament to the intellectual graces and beauty of a woman. If nothing else, she was an exception because she wasn't just a beautiful woman, she was also a Grant.

We had a quick bite to eat and while we did so I finished the story of how Gerard and I met censoring some of the details as I couldn't bare either to be embarrassed or to disappoint her. I couldn't help but wonder what it would've been like to sit across from my very own mother sharing in her precious company and spirit. For as long as I remember I missed her so much especially those cold lonely night when I cried myself to sleep.

After Aidan paid for our food, she suggested that we go look around the boutiques and as much as I wanted to say no, I didn't want to disappoint her. It may seem crazy but since my mother died I hadn't really been letting anyone in save for Liv, Charlie and especially Gerard. I think ... no I knew that I needed to be more open so I went along with her.

I didn't imagine that I would have so much fun with her. It made me miss my mother more and hate me when I say this but I also missed my father, even after everything he did to me. I don't like what he did and neither do I think it was moral or humane to subject me to such severe realities. I could try to fight it all I like but it was Leo Jones' blood running through my veins. No other ... so sue me if I missed my father.

Aidan had a splendid fashion sense I realized. I held more articles of clothing than I could fathom in more boutiques than I could imagine. That was mostly to do with the fact that I didn't want to be anyone's charity case. It was just my opinion that I would not exploit the goodness of others.

Finally, yet another store came into view as we walked along the boardwalk and she tugged my hand for pulling me inside. The store dealt majorly with boots. The likes of which I'd seen Gerard and his siblings wear around the ranch. The urge to have one of my own overwhelmed me but I didn't tell Aidan. Instead, I spared glances at a particular black and white boot that I liked very much.

In the end, Aidan bought a pair for herself but that wasn't nearly the most interesting part of the day. As we left the cobbler a black bag was pulled over my head. It was covered in a powdery substance that caused me to hack and cough in response. I could hear Aidan yelling at my aggressor in her Spanish twang to no avail. In seconds, I succumbed to the darkness that hovered over my body going off into a state of limbo.
