Bella P.O.V

The loud cry wakes me up from my dreamless sleep. It high and angered. It comes from the crib. Poor Ava, she's probably hungry. I didn't realize I fell asleep on the rocking chair.

Slowly, I make my way up to her, taking her I'm arms. My poor baby girl must had a nightmare. Her cries are loud are angered and her eyes are swollen red, her face has turned a dark pinkish color.

"There, there, Ava, it's alright," I say, swinging her from one side to another in my arms. She stills continues to cry. "No, Ava, don't cry. Are you hungry? How about we get you something to eat."

I rock her in my arms as I make my way to the kitchen. Ava's cries decreased and are now small whimpers. She hugs me with her arms around my neck, her wet cheek touching my neck. I start to make her bottle and once it's done, I sit on the couch and feed it to her.

I watch her as she grabs the bottle and starts slowly drinking, making these funny noises as she swallows. Her blue eyes meet mine as she continues to drink. I softly begin to rock her back and forth so she will fall right back asleep. She's the live image of Emmett. His nose, his lips and the frustrating way of being sometimes.

"That's much better, isn't it?" I tell her as she continues to drink her warm milk.

Not longer after she had finished bottle and was back asleep in my arms. It's barely three in the morning, she usually doesn't wake up at this time.

"You know, that's not your job." I look up to find Emmett standing at the living room entrance, leaning against the wall. "I'm her father for a reason."

I smile. "It doesn't bother me. You know I love this little angel more than I love you and Jasper together," I joke.

He chuckles, walking toward me. "I feel bad, you've been through a lot and now wake up in the middle of the night to take care of this girl." He caresses Ava's cheek. "How are you feeling?"

I shrug. "Better than what I deserve, I suppose."

"Have you heard from him?" He asks.

I nod. "We talked last night on the phone for a while. He said he would be here tomorrow afternoon."

Edward and I haven't lost touch since that night I called him. He calls me every night, his voice just the same as I remember it. Cocky and deep. We could talk for hours and I would forget what happens around me. He said he had things to finis before he came back. I didn't ask him where he was, that was something I wanted to know in person.

Emmett nods. "He has some explaining to do," he says. "Why don't you go get some rest, I'll take this little one back to bed?" He attempts to take Ava from my arms but she immediately grabs a hold of my shirt. "Or not," he chuckles. "Come on, baby girl, auntie Bella has to sleep."

He takes her from my arms, and cuddles her in his arms. I give her a gentle kiss on her forehead and watch as he walks her back to her nursery.

I walk back to my room, all quiet and cold. Rosalie tried to give it as much warmth and feeling of welcoming as she could, but it doesn't feel that same as my other home did. I lay in my bed, cuddling on my pillow, looking out the window.

When I was younger, I used to be afraid of looking out the window. Emmett and Jasper always told me these stories about Slender Man and how he would stand behind a tree, stalking children and abducting them. My dad used to cover it up with a blanket and say that as long as I'm covered, I'll always be okay. That no monster will ever get to me, but back then there was no such monster outside my window. Now, I'm afraid he is, looking at me, waiting for me.
