A cloud passed over the moon, shrouding the forest in complete darkness.

I glanced between the dogs, watching thier every move. They continued to circle me, snarling. I waited for them to strike, claws at the ready.

Then, one of the dogs gave a short howl and started barelling at me. As the dog lept at me, I grabbed him by his shoulder and flung him to the side with ease.

I turned around to face the other dog, but was tackled to the ground. I held back the dog's snapping jaws, and flipped him off of me. Both dogs recovered quickly and were back on me in an instant.

The sounds of snapping jaws and flying claws broke the silence of the forest, frightening all the small creatures of the night.

Thier claws raked my body, but I hardly felt them as I fought them back. Then, one of the dogs was unlucky enough to have given a sharp bite to my shoulder.

I roared in pain as blood immediatly flowed from underneath the dog's teeth! I sunk my long black claws into his side and he let me go with a yipe of pain. Adrenaline pumping through my body, I swung him into the side of the other dog. The two hit the trunk of the tree with a loud thud.

Breathing heavily, I watched as they shakingly got back to thier feet. "Hear me, brothers," I growled, "you will not win this fight!"

"Oh, thier orders weren't to win," a voice informed, "they were just to distract you for as long as possible."

I froze in horror. That voice. NO! HE WILL NOT FRIGHTEN ME!

I spun around in anger and cast a fierce glare at the man who had spoken. The man stood there casually, his hands in the pockets of his white coat. He stared right back at me, his grey eyes expressionless.

"You will come back to the lab, quietly." he ordered.

"Never!" I growled, "I will never go back with you, Steros!"

He shook his head, "Oh I think you will."

He snapped his fingers and another shadow dog appeared next to him, carrying an unconcious Jason! I took a step back, but tried not to show just how shocked I was.

"A little human?" I tried to stop myself from trembling with rage, "Why would I care about one human? You all are just selfish and war-bent."

Steros cocked his head at me, "Really? Then you wouldn't care if I killed the boy?"

He pulled a gun from his pocket and held it to Jason's head. My eyes widened and I lunged forward, "NO!"

He pressed the gun to Jason's temple, "Stop!"

I froze, anger boiling inside me. "How did you-"

"While following your trail, we found this boy a crying mess right in the spot where your scent was strongest." he interupted with the ghost of a smirk on his face, "I never thought any human would get so attached to something like you."

I growled lowly at him, fighting the urge to kill him on the spot, "You're sick."

"No, I'm not. Though I suppose if we stay in this chilly weather much longer I will catch a cold." he replied smartly, "Now, I think it's time you joined your little friend in sleep."

He pointed the gun at me, and before I had the chance to duck into the shadows, he pulled the trigger. I stumbled back and stared at the sleep dart stuck in my chest. The world started spinning and my eyelids grew heavy. My legs gave out and I fell to the ground.

I heard the loud buzzing of a helicopter, and looked up to see Steros handing Jason to a man in black clothing. Shakingly, I reached out a bloodstained hand, "Jason..." I called weakly.

Then, I passed out.
