A Sword Fit for a Prince

I stared in shock, "Adelberto?"

He smiled at me and I felt like Duck again, helpless, a little girl looking at a brave prince miles above her. I couldn't do this again. I couldn't fall for another prince who would just leave me, a duck, once I saved him.

I made myself frown  and the smile fell off his face and confusion appeared. "Duck? What happened? You aren't glad I'm in my human form?"

He looked so confused and the resemblance to his father made me even more firm in my conviction. I turned towards the path and started walking once again, unable to face him. "I'm just worried about what this means. And we had better start walking before the villagers get back." Mytho looked between Adelberto and me in confusion, and opened up to his mouth to talk but I stopped him, "They were blood thirsty before, just imagine how mad they'll be when they return." He nodded and the three of us continued on the path.

I had thought the first leg of the journey was long, but this? It was awful. I had somehow managed to be between Mytho and Adelberto on the path and the silence seemed endless. Every couple of seconds I would glance at Adelberto just to see him looking at me, then look away to see Mytho staring at us in confusion. I finally couldn't take it anymore and decided I might as well just distract both of them. "How did you turn back into a human Adelberto?"

He looked at me, shocked I'd actually talked to him. "I don't really remember," He brushed his hair back, and I saw that his hair was much longer than I had originally thought at almost shoulder length, and he seemed be much bigger than both Mytho and I, his build was that of a warrior, who could fight his way out his problems.

I finally noticed that he had been talking when I noticed his questioning look, then his smile, which told me he knew exactly what I'd been doing.

"Do you need me to repeat it?" His smile was happy again, and I was starting to forget why Princes were a no, no for me.

"Princess Tutu, we really have no time for this!" Mytho's glare interrupted my gazing at Adelberto and I looked at him a little shocked. He looked very irritated for some reason, and as I looked at Adelberto out of the corner of my eyes I realized he did as well.

I brushed off my confusion at their anger and I tried to get back at the topic at hand. "You're right I was distracted." I said apologetically to Mytho which seemed to pacify him. But Adelberto still looked annoyed. "What did you say while I was...occupied?"

Adelberto smiled at my acknowledgement of my blantant staring. He then let go of the cocky grin and got back his expression of confusion. "Like I said, I don't really remember how it happened. But I do know that I once I changed back to human form I had this sword." The sword he held up looked eerily familiar and Mytho and I both gasped in recognition.

It was back. The sword that slew the Raven.
