What game was she playing at? Was she planning on double-crossing us all along?
"So you're good with whatever I choose?" Troy clarified.
"Yes, Alpha," Iris replied. I stood up straighter. She just called him her Alpha, which meant she was loyal to him. Was she still loyal to us?
Which side was she on now?
"As exciting as it would be to get rid of Ares's mate, she's more useful to us alive. Put her back," Troy waved his hand and my mouth opened automatically.
"Ares will find me." I spoke up before I could think and he looked at me. "And when he does he won't be very happy."
"But since his wolf is getting weaker, he won't be very helpful, now will he? Soon enough he'll be useless." He said knowingly as the guards took the rope in their hands. My heart broke at the thought of calling him useless. He was anything but. "Isn't that right, Darcy?" He grinned with all his teeth showing.
"Yes, Alpha."
"It's all thanks to you. It took a lot of patience and diligence, but with your hard work we turned out more than successful."
I was thrown back into my cell.
How could Iris walk these halls? Hadn't Darcy told Troy about her being a spy? Unless. . . they already knew. In that case I was screwed.
I exhaled in frustration. I needed to speak with Iris to find out for sure but how was I supposed to get to her without tipping them off? This place was too guarded, I couldn't even move without them knowing.
"Alex?" I heard my mom ask.
"I'm okay," I replied. I still hadn't fully processed anything they said and was pretty much going to have a panic attack at any given second with all of these changes happening all at once. My life was officially in anarchy.
"What did they want?" Dad asked.
"Nothing."
"Are they going to kill us?" Mom asked this time.
"I don't know. But maybe you can tell them we're all innocent since you're so good at lying." I said and I heard her breath catch in her throat.
Nobody spoke after that.
.•*•.
I was sleeping on my side when I heard the sound of metal against metal. I heard the light pitter patter of footsteps coming down the stairs.
I rubbed my eyes and looked up.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Iris demanded, a lantern in her hand. She was standing in front of my cell and looked a little angry.
