Clayton comes storming into my room. He looks at me. "Well. You seem fine now. Today you will have to go on to your first hunt. I won't tell you what we are hunting, but remember this is what has fed you for the past few days you have been with us."

I look at him. What does that mean? Will I not enjoy what is being fed to us? "I understand the food we have is the only source of survival that we have. I will not be revolted by anything that will be fed to us. That is what it means to survive. Correct?"

"Yes, but this is something you may never approve of. You are from Dohean. You were protected by them for years. This is the wilderness. Nature is the very thing that will destroy you. Here all there is the remnants of society. The Nomads believe in unity, but once there is nothing left, we too, will destroy each other for survival."

I hold this information closely. Does this mean I may be able to free myself from the chains of the Nomads? I smile then remember, without them I am useless. I am nothing. I have no skills, no will, and no life. They saved me. They kept me alive.

Sooner or later, I will have to fight them for my own survival. Clayton pulls me off the ground. We walk out of the room into another. There are spears against the wall. I cross the room and touch one. I look at him and then the spear that seems to have blood stained on the wood. What we will hunt? I look at every spear. They seem so daunting looking at them.

Was this what they were going to kill me with, if I decided not to stay? What would they have done with the body? Where would I go? Have I made the right decision? I look back to Clayton. He nods his head.

"I will be back in ten minutes so take care of what you need to do," he leaves without another word.

I look around. Is this it for me? Is this going to be my life? I crouch down against a wall. This is my life. All there is now is to wait and see.
