Still Surviving

I wake to a pain in my back. Everything seems so weird. I don't know where I am and there are many people surrounding me. I look around and recognize a few familiar faces within the sea of people.

One of them comes toward me as I try to get up. Why are they helping me? They had never done this before. Last time I was like this they just stared at me until they left. I look at the one that is helping me. I recognize him as Evan.

Evan says, "You know you were great in the battle field. You are a true warrior just as your brother. The wound is deep but not life threatening if you do not get it infected. You are a part of us now."

I look at them. There are about eight people in the room. The strongest Nomad steps from the sea and comes towards me. He looks me in the eye. "You fought and thrived in the battle field. I, Alex Becker, am proud to call you a fellow Nomad and warrior," he smiles and walks out of the room. All follow him, with the exception of Evan.

I look at him studying his features. He has a symmetrical face, soft features, and eyes that are of a honey color. "What do you do in the Nomads," I ask him.

He looks at me for a second before answering me, "Before being kicked out of Dohean I was studying to be a doctor. Now I am here as a healer. I also do most of the cooking."

This explains why he took care of me. I respond by saying, "Thank you for everything you have done."

He leaves after he replaces the ripped cloth that is used as a bandage.
