"What are you reading this time, Hiyori?"

"Baking books." Without looking up, Hiyori replied to Hibiya in an almost monotone voice.

Hiyori and Hibiya were in the 7th grade, and Hibiya was one Hiyori's only friends. Not that she was an outcast or anything- she just kind of talked to whoever she felt like talking to, and she kind of always felt like talking to Hibiya especially. Hibiya, on the other hand, was liked by a lot of people in their grade, and girls have gone as far as confessing their feelings for him. He never understood why he was well received by everyone, but either way, it didn't really matter to him.

Whenever Hibiya had been invited to study sessions at the school library, Hiyori was always there, reading something new every time. This time it happened to be cooking books, and Hibiya couldn't help but laugh.

Nowadays, he went to the library just to hang out with Hiyori, and right now had been one of those normal moments where they hung out in the library and simply talked about whatever crossed their minds. And today, the thought of dating Hiyori had crossed the boy's mind. That and chocolate.

"And I suppose you're going to tell me why you're laughing loudly in a library?" Hiyori finally looked up at Hibiya, but quickly looked back down when they made eye contact.

"I was just thinking that you could make me some chocolate, like the one on the cover."

Hiyori closed her book to take a look at what he was talking about. "But it's not even close to White Day," Hiyori stated but proceeded to look for the chapter where she would read how to make Chocolate Macaroons, and Hibiya's heart began beating fast. He was always interested in Hiyori but feared that girls in his class would not take it lightly if they started dating. Hiyori and Hibiya were the same age, but Hiyori had skipped a grade, which fascinated Hibiya even more so.

Either way, he couldn't help but feel butterflies every time she passionately talked about whatever book she was reading that day. Whether it was poetry, outer space, snakes, fiction, comedy, he could hear her talk all day without stopping.

"Maybe if I asked you out, it could be a good excuse to make chocolate for me."

"And what if I say no?" Hiyori asked. Hibiya's face was tinted a dark shade of pink. He didn't think she'd be so quick to say something. Hiyori didn't look up, but Hibiya did notice her flipping through her book a little too quickly. Her nervousness made him feel less nervous, for some reason.

"I haven't really thought that far ahead..." Was his reply, and he honestly had not thought that far, and maybe it was because he was an optimistic boy. He really didn't think there would be rejection involved in his confession to Hiyori.

"Well yeah, I would like to go out with you." She said, smiling. Hibiya exhaled loudly, which made Hiyori laugh out loud. The librarian shushed loudly at the two.

"Really?" He whispered, almost shocked at the fact that you had agreed.

"Why so surprised?" She said, alarmed. "Of course I'd want to give you a chance." She then felt her face grow warm.

"I mean, you just made me realize there was a chance you'd say no, so I was expecting a no."

"I just wanted to see your reaction. In this one book I read, the protagonist did the same thing to the guy who asked her out, and he acted very poorly. It made her realize that he wasn't worth it if he couldn't take rejection well, and so she chose another guy." And with that, Hiyori kept telling Hibiya of the book series she had been referring to, and this lasted until the library had to be closed at 7. Everyone at school was either in a club or just loitering and watching the sports clubs practice.

"I'm sorry, it got so late," said Hibiya. Although Hiyori was the one doing all the talking, he felt like a girl shouldn't go home by herself this late. He's never walked her home before, but today Hibiya felt like it was his duty to do so. He knew that one of Hiyori's favorite books to read were shoujo manga, where the girl always got treated like a princess by a guy who did everything to ensure their happiness.

"I guess this is where we say our goodbyes," Hiyori began to say.

"Oh no, you don't, Hiyori. As your official boyfriend, I vow to take you home every day! Unless I'm sick, and as you know, that happens a little too often."

Hiyori laughed. "Well, if it were to happen, as your girlfriend, I'll help nurse you back to health." Although Hiyori said this mostly as a joke, it was enough to make Hibiya lean in and peck Hiyori on the cheek. Stunned, Hiyori said nothing, but instead grabbed his hand and began walking to the direction of her home. Hibiya followed, and with that, their little relationship had begun.

a little short, but I think it contained so much sweetness and fluff that I now declare this pairing to be the most innocent and pure and you can fight me on it. I will totally continue this story, but you all know how I suck at updating frequently, sooooo... thanks for reading and hold on tight for the other updates I plan on releasing this summer for this book!
