"Yeah, yeah..." Sasuke muttered over the phone. On the other side of the line was Itachi, his older brother and a police officer. He rolled his eyes as the older brother told him what to do. "Alright, alright. She's sleeping, but I'll bring her over later." He stated. Saying goodbye to his brother, he ended the call.

Hectic was the only word to describe last night. When he had brought a quiet Kimi and half asleep Ranmaru to his home, it was nearly four in the morning. Now it was just passed nine and he was wide awake, as if he had gotten the proper amount of sleep, but that was probably due to the coffee he'd made as soon as he woke up. He sighed, looking back to the laptop in front of him. Kimi wasn't up yet, or at least that's what he assumed since she hadn't come out of the guest room. Until she was up and they could discuss things, he'd use his computer to get a head start on his work for the week.

It took Kimi a minute to recall where she was when she awoke that morning. She was thrown off by plain white sheets of the bed she was lying in; different from her flower patterned one. Next to her, Ranmaru lay on his stomach, sound asleep. He must have been very tired. She hadn't slept that well- for obvious reasons- but she would admit the bed she was in was very comfy. She looked around, taking in the room. It was on the plain side, with standard white walls, a wooden dresser, and a nightstand next to the bed to match. She had hoped to see a clock on the nightstand-so she would know the time, but judging by the way the sun shone through the thin, beige curtains, it was midmorning.

She pulled the covers off and got out of bed, making as little movement as she could so she wouldn't wake the toddler sleeping on the other side. It was then she noticed her clothes, a large t-shirt and basketball shorts that both were not hers. Had he changed her? She quickly made her way to the door and made a quiet exit, making sure the close the door as softly as possible. She made her way slowly down the unfamiliar hallway and into the open space of the living room and kitchen. On a bar stool in front of the island counter, sat a familiar figure typing away at a laptop in front of him.

"Sasuke."

Said man looked over his shoulder, before turning back to face the laptop. "You're up," he announced. "How are you feeling?"

"Better," Kimi answered, looking away. "Thank you for last night." She said quickly, not wanting to think too far back to what happened. "Did you...I mean- are these yours?" She asked, pulling at the white t-shirt. She felt so shy suddenly and it was embarrassing.

"Yeah, you don't mind right? You were half asleep when I gave them to you to change."

"Oh..."

There was a silence in the air as the Uchiha went back to his laptop. Kimi just continued to stand there, messing with the hem of the shirt. She felt out of place in his home, she didn't know what to do or how to carry herself. And last night...the memories of last night were far from gone-though she tried her best to push them away.

"Sasuke," she started, earning his attention.

"What?"

"Why did you show up last night? Do you have a sixth sense or something?" She asked. It was ridiculous, but the man did seem like he had one. She didn't want to admit it, but the past few months he'd been there whenever she seemed to get in trouble.

He snorted at her question, earning a frown. "No I don't. Ayame called me worrying about you," he revealed. "I almost didn't answer, but I guess it's a good thing I did."

"Yeah...I guess it is." She would have to give Ayame a call later to let her know she was okay. For a few moments, it remained quiet as Sasuke focused on whatever he was doing on the laptop and Kimi let her eyes wander around the apartment.
