"Was it okay to just leave him like that?" Kimi asked, referring to Suigetsu, whom they had left hanging in the café. Sasuke was already in the driver's seat, while she opted to sit in the back with Ranmaru, since there was no car seat.

"Does it really matter?" Sasuke asked as he pulled out of the parking lot.

"I guess not." Kimi shrugged, turning her attention to Ranmaru who was struggling to reach for the small box in her lap. "Do you want this, Ran?" she asked, giving the box a small shake. He grinned, nodding.

"Sauske."

"What?"

"Do you mind if Ran eats his cookie?"

He sighed, glancing at the two through his rearview mirror, "Just don't make a mess." Kimi looked into the mirror, meeting his eyes.

"Alright."

"Hn." He turned away, focusing back on the road.

Kimi unfolded the bag and broke half of the soft, chocolate chip cookie, and held it out for her son to grab. Ranmaru grinned and grabbed the cookie with both hands, bringing it up towards his mouth.

"Don't make a mess now," she warned. The boy nodded briefly, seeming only interested in the cookie.

Sasuke snuck a few glances at the young mother from his rearview mirror as he drove. She was so different with her son around, nicer and gentler, compared to the other times he had been in her presence. He supposed it was a maternal thing. Soon enough, Ranmaru had finished his cookie and they had arrived at Kimi's apartment complex.

"Thanks for the ride, Sasuke," Kimi thanked as she unbuckled Ranmaru and helped him out of the car, holding him up and propping him up on her hip.

"Hn," was his response.

"Thanks again," she said, shutting the back door, before walking off with her son in her arms. He nodded and watched as she made her way to the stairs, ready to climb to the second floor where her apartment was located. As he was about to reverse and drive away, Kimi turned around and headed straight for the car. He rolled down the window giving her a questioning look.

"Um," she looked away as she asked, "Would you mind coming upstairs for a bit? I'd like to talk to you." Sasuke glanced at the rundown apartment and then back at her. "I promise it's not as bad on the inside as it looks on the outside."

"Fine," Sasuke agreed, pulling the key from the ignition and stepping out. He followed her up the stairs and waited for her to unlock the door before walking in.

"I'm going to put Ranmaru down for a nap, just wait, here." Sasuke nodded and watched as she disappeared inside what he assumed to be a bedroom.

Being who he was, he made himself comfortable on the couch in the nearby sitting room and surveyed the home. What she had said was correct; the place was indeed nicer on the inside. From what he could tell, Kimi was someone who liked to keep things clean. What didn't surprise him was that the apartment was small. He could see there was only one bedroom, the one she had entered, and one bathroom, and the kitchen was microscopic. He sighed, placing his elbow on the armrest and leaning his cheek onto the back of his hand.

A few minutes later, Kimi returned with something in her hand. She took a seat next to Sasuke and dropped what she had in his lap.

"What is this?" He questioned, frowning at the money in his lap.

"I didn't want to ask this in front of Ran, nor Suigetsu, so I'll ask you now." She paused, looking him in the eye. "What is it that you want?"

"What do I want?" Sasuke repeated.
