After two weeks, Chemo really began to show in Lydia.
Apparently the hair loss that day in the car had been due to the overwhelming amount of anxiety Lydia had been bottling in over it. The real hair loss - meaning, the legit, "I'm slowly becoming professor X, and that's awesome"— hair loss, began 2 weeks later. When that moment came, Allison had shown up in Lydia's room with a yarn knitted beanie.
Apparently the yarn was the only form of fabric that couldn't irritate Lydia's scalp, and for that everyone gave her extra points. Lydia still had most of her hair, but her balding had begun rapidly, and so the hat had become her favorite clothing item. Everyone couldn't forget the beaming smile that had grown on her face the moment she'd slipped it on.
Stiles hadn't been going to school a lot since Lydia had really delved into chemo, against most of her protests. He'd come over in the morning after hiding his jeep somewhere his dad wouldn't notice, and then would stay until around seven, when it was time to bring his dad healthy take out. For a sheriff, his dad had done a poor job of picking up on it— or if he did, he did a poor job of confronting Stiles about it. If he was being honest, it disappointed him. Really dad? Nothing? Not even a minuscule grounding?
Lydia often tried to kick him out when he would mention his father's cluelessness, stating that he should go back to school before his father does indeed find out. Stiles would just change topics, in a way that only he could.
