One week had passed since Lydia's stay in the hospital.

They were officially in November, and everyone was already talking about thanksgiving break. It was funny to Stiles. In the past he couldn't wait for school breaks. He'd count down the days until he could throw his book bag in his closet for a couple of weeks and just waste time away. His generation was known for lack of appreciation for time. Everything had to happen so quickly. Nothing was ever in the moment. Time didn't hold a place in everyone's world until they had none left and wished for more.

And that's where Stiles was.

He wanted more time.

More time with Lydia.

It wasn't as though the doctors had said they had a limit. According to Lydia her treatment was going fairly well. But Stiles, being the horrible pessimist that he was, couldn't get all of the weak moments out of his mind. The Chemo Lydia didn't really give him much room for much else. He wanted to be hopeful. He wanted to say, 'she'll be around for a long time, she'll beat this', but really all he could think was, 'there's not enough time.'

Which is why, after Lydia returned from the hospital, he resumed his position by her bedside. Ignoring her when she attempted to threaten him again should he miss school. "Lydia, you asked me to stay." Being his major excuse. Of course, Lydia would express that she'd asked him to stay at the hospital, not for the rest of the school year. And he had shrugged, replying, "same difference." To which Lydia finally gave up. After all, she just had to take one look at his face to realize this time around there was no changing his mind.
