Unexpected call

"Do it, do it, do it" I looked around to see everyone's eyes on me, I looked at my hand to find a shot glass filled to the top with a strange green liquid inside, Thor said that this is Asgardian alcohol and has been aging for a thousand years, it is not meant for mortal men but I didn't let that stop me, I took one last look at my friends and downed it all, I scrunched my eyes as the sour substance flowed down my throat, I felt like it was burning me, and now I understand why this isn't meant for humans, but I glance over to Thor and I see him smiling smugly and all I could hear was the loud cheers of a drunk tony stark and loud chants from everyone else, I placed the shot glass back on the table and fell back onto the couch and huffed "whoa" is all I could mange to say before my phone started ringing, I glanced down at my phone on the table to see the caller ID was unknown, I started to feel a bit anxious as the only people that had my number were all in this room, and they were the avengers, I went to pick it up before I got interrupted
"Nat?" He said, I looked up at him
"It's fine Steve I'll-uh I'll only be a minute" I said before I picked up the phone and left the room to get away from the loud chants of tony and Clint.
Once I was out of the room and check it was clear I finally answered
"Hello?" I said anxious
"Ahh Natalia, so nice to hear your voice again" they said
"Who is this?" I asked with my eyebrows furrowed, which Clint says I only do when I'm was nervous,
"Ahh you don't need me to answer that because deep down you know who I am don't you?"
"Yelena, how did you get this number? And what do you want?" I snapped back
"Always with the questions Natalia, anyway I am on a mission and the boss provided me with this number for one goal and one goal only" she replied
"Which is?" I asked
"You" she replied, all I could do is stand there frozen I couldn't talk I couldn't move I just stood there, this can't be happening not again please not again, no I'm not going back, I'm never ever going back to that hell hole, but my thoughts were soon interrupted by a laughing on the other end
"I'm guessing your not to happy with that" She with a chuckle at the end
"What not going to talk? Fine but just so you know your coming back whether you like it or not, so enjoy your last few days of freedom, bye Natalia see you soon" and then see hung up, I stood still with the phone in my hand, I was so paralyzed that I didn't notice Steve standing there
"What was that?" He asked sternly, I just looked at him, I tried to muster up words to say but I couldn't think of anything so all I could mange was
"Uhh" before Steve interrupted me
"Nat you know you can tell me anything right?" He asked me, I again just stood there holding back the tears that were threatening to fall down
"Nat who is yelena and how the hell has she managed to scare the person who has just drank alien vodka?" He asked me, I wanted to tell him who she was and why the hell she phoned me, but I can't, I can't drag him into this, if yelena found out that I loved him I would be painting a giant target on his head, and I can't let that happen, not again, I'll keep this quite for now I can't have them, him, getting hurt, I couldn't live with myself, I looked at him and said the only thing I could think of
"Oh just an old friend asking me for money, the kind that I don't have" I said with a fake smile on the end, he looked at me in suspicion he knows I'm lying to him but he also knows if he keeps pressuring me to tell him it's gonna end with a punch in the arm so he leaves it, for now, I mean I know Steve just as well as he knows me and one thing I can say is he's stubborn, so he won't let this go, but I hope I'm wrong, and for his sake I hope he lets it go,
"Ok" he replies "you coming back to the party?" He asked
"Uh nah the alien vodka is getting to me I'm gonna go back to my room and have a little lie down, say goodnight to the others for me" I say as I head back to my room, I'm not really tiered I just can't face them right now but especially Steve because there's just so many things I want to tell him but can't, I want to tell him I have feelings for him but if I do, it immediately puts him in the middle of the sniper scope and I can't have that, so I guess that's just gonna have to stay as one of my many hidden secrets.
