CHAPTER ONE

The dark alleyway was far safer than the streets were. The puddles and dirt was a place of refuge from the Imperialist that flooded the streets looking for any sign of rebel alliance.

That is why Ellia was running. She worked for the Organa's, supporters of the Rebellion and if she got caught she would face something more terrifying than death itself, the raspy, labored, breaths of the Sith Lord that was made of nightmares.

Her high black riding boots splashed on the wet alley as she pushed herself faster to get to the ship that would soon be leaving on a 'diplomatic' trip. Her white pants and tunic were getting splashed with mud and her hair was becoming windblown, not that she minded. Her breath was becoming rigid and chest hurt from the cold temperature, but the sound of the Imperial Troops' march made her run even faster.

She slowed her pace when she saw two hooded figures standing near the back entrance of the old abandoned Works, a place that held bright memories of years past. When the rebellion was still in the beginning stages of something greater.

"I thought I would find you here," Ellia said in a hushed tone. She recognized one man instantly, his warm smile warmed her heart at every sight. But since the rebellion took off, his lips stayed in a tight line and his eyes were always full of concern. Her breath left her mouth and the man in front of her could see her panting breaths in the damp cold air of Alderaan.

The one hooded figure stepped forward into the light so Ellia could get a better view of his tired face. "I knew you would come here."

"Who is that Jax?" Ellia asked pointing to the other cloaked figure.

"That is my partner, Strago Sheotah," Jax answered as he took off his hood to reveal his identity.

Ellia nodded at the man, a nod that he returned. She looked around making sure no one was around before getting close to Jax, "Where is she?"

"The princess is on the ship," Jax answered, "She is waiting for you."

"She was very adamant about getting you," Strago said for the first time.

Ellia smiled and reached up high, to playfully pinch Jax's cheeks, "Jaxy would never leave me behind. Would ya?"

Jax scoffed and pushed her hand away from his face and purses his lips, "Let's go before we get caught by storm troopers, that's the last thing I want."

Jax pushed himself between Ellia and Strago, leading the way to the ship. "Do you know each other?" Strago asked.

Ellia chuckled and looked up at Strago to get a better look at his features. He had smooth brown skin and short black hair, but his eyes caught her attention, they were a light blue, almost opaque.

"I've known him half my life," Ellia told him, "Originally he was my partner until I got a promotion and moved up in the galaxy. He's the jealous type." Ellia looked up and laughed, "I'm kidding, we have a love-hate relationship."

"Are you two going to keep up or continue making jest and get captured by the troopers?" Jax asked becoming visibly annoyed, "I mean Ellia, you can stay behind. I'm sure the Princess won't mind."

Ellia rolled her grey-blue eyes at her friend, "She would personally kill you."

"He wasn't always like this," Ellia told Strago lowly, "It's the rebellion. He's scared."

"And you're not?" Strago asked her.

"Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering," Ellia told him.
